What programs will you be using? Preferred max weight and min battery life?

Adobe suite, 3dmax, C4d with redshift
Weight below 2.5kg (with the power brick), max battery life if possible

Do you think I'm better off with egpu setup? Any suggestion for that too?
*
eGPU doesn't justify the cost and hassle IMO

If you want weight below 2.5kg with power brick, there aren't many options left - maybe can consider Illegear Onyx Pro, however battery is only 63Wh. G14 has reduced performance due to its size (35W HS CPU, 65W MQ GPU), which isn't ideal either

My friend informed me that Acer just released new Triton 300 configuration with RTX 2060, 6GB. SRP at RM4499. Lazada can get as low at RM4199 from reputable seller as NBP Store.

Wow! Cheapest RTX 2060 laptop so far.
*
I saw that, but 4c8t i5-9300H is looking outdated nowadays, also need to consider 16GB RAM upgrade (default only 4GB, need to sell it away). Triton 300 using Nitro 5 2019 cooling which isn't good either
QUOTE(leroy87 @ May 26 2020, 06:55 PM)
dear ZM Fong / sifus,

i know theres alot debate in the forum on Illegear vs Level51,
Im on a budget preferably (3.5k-ish).
Been reading and checking out reviews on the Raven SE & FORGE15S.
I'm asking now as they have a promo on the 10th gen I5, was wondering if its better then any AMD chips around the same price point.
Both are quite competitive at the same price point.

any other differences that i need to take note of? Like the cooling / sales service / hardwares?
*
I haven't got info on Forge 15s so can't comment on it

Do you have any preferences on weight and battery life? Usage? What games do you play?
QUOTE(snarkienoa @ May 26 2020, 06:56 PM)
G14 usb c charging is a plus, that goes to 7i as well if im not mistaken.
Since there wont be any intense work done on the move.

I guess onyx g and onyx pro is the way to go.

Really g14, 7i, and onyx v ryzen price and availability are holding me back from pulling the trigger smh
*
Legion 7i doesn't have USB C / PD charging

Weight and battery life doesnt really matter, usually plug it in when gaming. Into games like Assasins Creed, Tomb Raider kind. Some old games like CSGO/L4d2
*
Consider Legion 5 (AMD) customize, use code LENXCIMB. R5-4600H, GTX1650, 16GB RAM

For CSGO you can get higher FPS by disabling Hybrid Mode (MUX feature in budget gaming laptops only in Legion 5 series)

*
Able to wait for 1-3 months?

Any preferences on weight and battery life?

QUOTE(popopi @ May 27 2020, 01:57 PM)
Can advice if Illegear or Level51 laptop can last?

I had have Dell and MSI, the laptop seems to be able to last many years, but no longer as gaming purpose, at least still working laptop for my wife to use as office use...

Want to know if Illegear and Level51 laptop can last that long? maybe 5~7years?
*
If you're talking about reliability+longevity, honestly speaking there is no answer for that, it depends on way too many factors - QC, usage, how you take care of it, luck etc

is there any other alternatives aside from the Legion 5 series, being below 4k budget with R4600H with at least 1660TI instead?
*
Legion 5P / 5 AMD with 1660Ti not available yet

For around RM4k if you want 1660Ti, Level51 Forge 15R is the only decent choice for now

Finally, Lenovo website updated latest Legion & Ideapad Gaming 3i model just now, with Ideapad 3i(GTX1650) start from RM3,699.

Worth to buy? hmm.gif

https://www.lenovo.com/my/en/laptops/legion...D/p/88IPG301387
*
Avoid Gaming 3i due to cheaped out quality (eg downgraded cooling)
QUOTE(danieln @ May 28 2020, 10:38 AM)
all same items except HDD

5i = 2TB 5400+512GB
7i = 1TB SSD PCIe NVMe

is 7i worth the difference?
*
7i has Vapor Chamber cooling, higher GPU TGP, optional GSYNC 500nits, 80Wh battery, thinner chassis, TB3, RGB lightning etc

BTW those product pages have many misinformation, suggest checking specs in psref: https://psref.lenovo.com/

Thanks bro.

The Lenovo 5i spec and pricing just released. Much better than current line up.

I got sku 81Y6005GMJ, with
i5-10300H, 100%sRGB,  16GB Ram, 1TB+256GB storage, 4zone RGB!, RTX2060 at RM4560. Wow!

Before discount, price is RM5699. I use LENXCIMB code.

Is this good buy?
*
The panel is 144Hz actually (check with psref)

4c8t i5 is a bit bottlenecking nowadays but should be fine in many games due to HT, the 4 zone RGB backlit is ugly IMO lol.

Vapor Chamber very much better than pipe?
*
Not always true but higher end cooling, according to early testing 7i can cool 55W+105W
QUOTE(Ethan Hunt @ May 28 2020, 11:52 AM)
Wow! 144hz is added bonus. Actually im fine with 60hz as long it is 100% sRGB.

And the 4 zone RGB also like bonus to me. Kinda digging that syle.

Really worth the wait! Better buy fast before sold out.

Thanks for all the help and input bro.

You're welcome

LENXCIMB

will have to use CIMB to use this code or any other card also can?

only x2 M.2 slots - means can have 2 NVMe right?

is it a must to use it as RAID or the 2nd stick can be extra space?
*
Yes 2 NVMe (both running x4 PCIe speeds)

RAID is additional feature, no need use also can

So means I have to opt for proper Legion model in this case.

How about Legion 5i? Planned to play Epic games title(GTA V & Red zdead Redemption II) & some Steam games.

Is base model with GTX1650 sufficient for that?
*
1650 should be OK if you don't use max settings

Also can consider 5Pi and 5 AMD

Bro im wondering. For Lenovo laptop, does the retail unit price will follow exactly like "web price" or will follow after discounted price eg: if one use code such as LENXCIMB?

Eg: Webprice RM5699 /  LENXCIMB price RM4559. Retail price will be?

Thanks.
*
Umm you mean units in retail stores instead on in official online store??

Err wait. Do they sell in retail store? Like Acer, Asus brand?

Some models in online store won't sell in retail stores, we'll have to wait and see

They messed up the product page 😅

The website don't even mention refresh rate lol. ARGB 100% is the 144Hz+GSYNC while sRGB 100% is 240Hz

Edit: It seems like 10875H will pair with 144Hz 100%ARGB GSYNC only, similar to China market (Y9000K)

Looks promising. Shall I wait for the coming June promotion ? https://lenovo.my/legionpreorder/

Or wait other brand to offer new AMD laptop? The new MSI Bravo looks cool with the RGB per key. Will use it for photo editing and gaming (GTA, Red Dead Redemptions 2,need for speed)
*
1650Ti isn't worth the money, 4600H aldy good enough for games

Like others mentioned, will suggest going for at least 1660Ti

refer to the list - Helios 300 is the one I would recommend
