Able to wait for 1-2 months?

If cannot wait, consider Legion Y7000SE customize with code LENXCIMB (i5,16GB RAM,1650)
QUOTE(Puteih @ Apr 19 2020, 06:33 PM)
Noted with thanks!

You're welcome

Now it's a weird time to buy gaming laptop TBH, since many old models aren't available and new models haven't arrive yet

Can I know why HP pavilion 15 i5+1650 is not on 3k-3.5k list?
*
Mediocre build quality and cooling, the 17 inch version is still acceptable but not available in our market
QUOTE(capix @ Apr 19 2020, 08:25 PM)
tq...seem expensive for 9th gen intel...other brands cheaper?
*
For your budget this is the best overall option, otherwise Legion Y7000SE 81T0001HMJ / 3FMJ

Thx for clarification. Think I will go for forge 51 due to latest Gen Intel.

Quite curious why you keep saying wait 1-2mths. Is there any new good model incoming?
*
10th gen don't have noticeable improvement except for single core performance, since the power limits are still the same and all core boost clock will be power capped anyway

There will be new models coming/available

yea, i can wait but pls don exceed too much my budget, any recommendation is very much appreciated
*
Then I would suggest waiting first, now it's an awkward time to buy gaming laptop
QUOTE(damn_aged @ Apr 20 2020, 11:44 AM)
hi guys,
Is there a way to know if my laptop is equipped with GTX 1650 or GTX 1650 Max-Q? Max-Q is under-volted version right?
*
Depends on model. 1650MQ is just 1650 with lower TGP (power limit), hence lower clock speed

I bought the Lenovo Y7000SE which seems to have both the 1650 &1650MQ. But how do I check for sure which card is in my laptop? System information only mentions 'nvidia GeForce gtx 1650'
*
Y7000SE only comes with 1650 (and 1050/1660Ti/2060), 1650MQ probably typo

Hi Sifu I need recommendation for a laptop for both gaming and work. Since I’ll be doing autocad for work while gaming at the same time. Which one will be better for me? Any recommendation? Budget should be around 4.3k the highest I can get.

Forge 15s still don't have reviews (it's a new Clevo chassis)

Between these two, is it better to take Forge 15S simply because of 120hz right? Price for both are the same
*
Forge 15s don't have reviews yet (new Clevo chassis), therefore I can't comment much
QUOTE(clanzkiller @ Apr 20 2020, 11:59 PM)
Hi ZM Fong, i still havent decided on my new laptop yet and the MCO kick-in. Then today i saw the ads of Level 51 offering new gen CPU of both AMD and Intel.

Previously i was about to go ahead with Forge 15 Elite i7-9750h GTX1660TI @ 4375, now seems like the i7-10750h is a better deal, BUT only with GTX1650TI @ 4065. If were to choose GTX1660TI, it will be AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 4079

So the comparison here is that
i7-10750h vs AMD Ryzen 3600
or
GTX1650TI vs GTX1660TI?

I know u mentioned that the forge is a new Clevo chasis and no review yet so u cant comment further. If were to compared on by the spec above regardless of brand, which CPU/GPU will u recommend?
*
1650Ti is just a bit faster than 1650, R5 3600 also better than i7-10750H overall, but no iGPU means that battery life will be poor. I would pick Forge 15R

The new Clevo NH5xAC/AD/AF aldy has some reviews+benchmarks, looks decent and promising. Still need to test out myself though

So i guess i go with the R5 3600 with 1660ti then.
Maybe i buy and let u review it? hahahaha

oh ya btw, you mentioned that the forge has only one primary slot of ssd. It still can add another HDD right so become SSD + HDD?
*
Just take note that the 1660Ti is offered with 120Hz 45% NTSC ~15ms GTG panel, while 2060/2070 has 144Hz 72% NTSC

I can review it myself once it's ready, thanks for the offer anyway

For Forge 15R, there are x2 M.2 slots and x1 2.5 inch bay

Hi sifus,my laptop screen is 120hz, can i connect to 144hz or higher PC monitor and get that refresh rate or will it just limit to my 120hz?
*
Yes you can, it will work at 144Hz at external monitor

Morning sifus. Am looking at 2 different models which has the same CPU and GPU however cost wise is around Rm1400 difference, could you all help to identify what are the other differences between them and whether worth the money?

Level 51 Forge 15x vs illegear Onyx G

I'm deciding either between the:-
GS66 Stealth
Zephyrus S GX502

Is there a big differences in the GPU between the RTX 2060 (MSI) & RTX 2070 (ASUS)

I'm also open to other suggestions on laptops
*
Able to wait for 1-2 months? Preferred max weight and min battery life?

2060 and 2070 do have noticeable performance difference (Max-P cards)

Basically, i'm looking for an array of things from a laptop. But I know it's not possible.

I'm looking for a long battery life with good gaming graphics.

I'm not sure if you know what's the battery times for the GS66 Stealth since it's a 99.9 Watt Hour battery.

I wonder how big of a difference it is with the Asus model
*
GS66 can around 7-8 hrs despite larger 99Wh battery. Since Zen 2 is more efficient compared to Comet Lake, 8-10 hrs is possible in G14 despite smaller 76Wh battery

G14 is the Asus with AMD Chip?

Unfortunately the G14 is only a RTX2060 Max-Q, if it was a full RTX2060 then it would be a sweet spot

How about the Asus Zephyrus S 2019 model, what's the battery life like. I heard is around 5 hours at best?
*
Oh you mean GX502. Around 5 hrs with Optimus on.

Open to other options?

I guess you'll be stuck with Asus Zephyrus, despite their below average QC and aftersales

Hence why I've narrowed it down to those 2.

So based on your opinion Asus or MSI?
*
If you want thin and light gaming laptop with:
-decent cooling
-long battery life
-2060 or above
-no numpad,
I guess the best option will be MSI GS66. Of course there are other decent options as well like Level51 Vapor 15 Pro

If you're hoping a noticeable improvement in overall performance from 9th gen to 10th gen, unfortunately there isn't any

Hi TS, any recommendations for budget around 7.5k rtx 2070 laptops? Prefer 15.6 inch with numpad, good cooling system, mostly for editing and heavy gaming. If urgent what should i get? If can wait 2 months is it new gpu coming out?
*
Any preference on weight and battery life?
QUOTE(mtcc @ Apr 25 2020, 07:27 PM)
I did look at Level51 offerings, pretty tempting.

But i value the USB-C charging more because when i bring it out i don't have to carry the chonky power brick. That can be left at home.

Yeah probably will go for the MSI, i was really interested in the MSI GS66 RTX2070 Super Max-Q but then saw the price and officially went off my list.

The difference between the RTX2060 and RTX2070 Super is like 2 or 3k. That's crazy.

Acer Predator Triton 500 also was a consideration but no Type C charging.
*
2070SMQ is basically 2070MP. GS66 is premium product, sure will be expensive

Triton 500 don't have good CPU cooling, otherwise it's a decent model

As light as possible because will be carrying around, but not willing to sacrifice performance and cooling so weight is optional, battery moderate will be enough

Max weight in kg?
Min battery life in hrs?

2kg+-, battery life around 6 hours

If urgent: Illegear Selenite Pro
If not: Illegear Onyx G (review pending)

Choices are limited since new laptops haven't arrive yet
