Btw, bro ZMFong, apologies as I haven't had much time to try out thermal testing. For me, the laptop seems to work fine and not so into thermals after your blogs have helped me with the initial setup. biggrin.gif

No problem, enjoy your new lappy

Is the lenovo Y740 with the 2060 worth it ? Comparing to the similar priced laptops.

How about the thermal and the performance i can squeeze out from it?
*
There might be better options. It has TB3 and RGB but the keyboard layout and typing feel are not great

May I know your budget? Preferred max weight and min battery life?

My budget is around 5000 to 6500. Weight around 2kgs, i personally do not care much about the weight but i much prefer something low profile and a bit futureproof. since i will bring it to work and also do some  gaming at home occasionally. I Do not mind the battery since i will mainly keep it plugged in.

Thanks in advance!

If you don't need TB3, can consider Illegear Prodigy. Under RM5k for a good yet light weight thin and light gaming laptop

Performance wise, ryzen 5 3550H can match ryzen 7 3700U?
*
3550H>3700U due to higher power limit

Hi boss

Iam looking for laptop below 4k
Max weight below 2.5kg and battery life 4-5 hours for work/browsing/office use and good cooling system too

Looking through the threads it left me with few option

1) Commandos Carbine Evo 4 plus
2) Forge 15
3) illegear raven-se
4) lenovo y540/7000se

Any recomendation for the above list?
*
Mind low sRGB 60Hz display or prefer 120Hz/144Hz?

Where to get this?

Shopee
QUOTE(Adell G @ Feb 15 2020, 11:10 PM)
Allright lets say i want the 120hz/144hz then what would you recommend?
*
Lenovo Legion Y530 81LB006LMJ: older model but 1060>1650
Level51 Forge 15: 120Hz low sRGB ~15ms, 3-4 hrs battery life
Lenovo Legion Y7000 SE customize / Y540 15 customize: apply code LENXCIMB, optional 144Hz
Lenovo Legion Y540 15 81SY00D9MJ, Legion Y7000 SE 81T0001JMJ
Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43-R3B4 +RAM: 120Hz low sRGB ~15ms, single stick 4GB RAM makes upgrades difficult

Suggest adding another 8GB stick for models with 8GB by default for dual channel

Hi ZM Fong Sensei, what's your opinion on Illgear Selenite Pro? Is RM 6.7k worth it with the 1TB ssd upgrade? Thanks a lot
*
Basically a bigger version of Intel-Tongfang QC7 (aka Vapor 15 Pro, Mag-15, Fusion 15 etc), if you need 17 inch gaming laptop in a thin and light chassis+long battery life, it's a decent option. Will be reviewing it soon (hopefully)

Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH 81FV01DUMJ Gaming Notebook (15.6inch/Intel I5/8GB/512GB SSD/GTX1050 4GB) | https://s.lazada.com.my/s.00ACp

Guys, this deal ok? Seller says the screen is 144hz, but this model I see so far is 60hz.
*
1050 is an old card, better up budget to RM3k

60Hz low sRGB

Brightstar is reputable?

Its either this or I'll bite the bullet with raven se even though my it exceeds my budget.

At least they have retail stores

No Dell / Alienware?
*
Poor cooling for all current models due to bad fan curve/cooling solution (A51m is exception, but too expensive aldy)

Will gaming laptops heat up to detrimental levels even when doing normal web browsing and Microsoft office stuff?

Bro Sensei, whats the difference between Illgear selenite pro and level 51 forge 15? Same i9 + 2060 + 144hz but the former is RM2K more expensive. Thank you so much
*
Selenite Pro is a thin and light with good battery life (usually more expensive for this kind of gaming laptop), in fact it weights about the same with Forge 15 Pro despite being 17 inch. Moreover, it has magnesium alloy build compared to plastic and it has TB3 (which adds money also)

Haha thanks. The review will be delayed as Illegear don't have review unit for now (out of stock)

Hi may i ask should i get an illegear raven se or lenovo y540. Planning to go for 15 9300h and gtx 1650 and 8gb ram but the one at illegear 16gb is free. Which one should i get? I dont really care about the look or battery life. Mostly on performance wise.

Would suggest getting 1660Ti, better price to performance compared to 1650

Commandos Glock 5 Plus (i5-9400,1660Ti,16GB,512GB,144Hz)
Level51 Forge 15 Elite: 120Hz low sRGB ~15ms
Lenovo Legion Y540 15 customize (i5,1660Ti,8GB,1TB+512GB,144Hz): add another 8GB RAM later
Lenovo Legion Y7000SE customize (i5,1660Ti,16GB,1TB+512GB,144Hz,2x2 WIFI)
