Hi ZM,

Some update here, went to Lowyat today and got really overwhelmed with the models and different specs. I tried asking for the models you listed but ALL IT don't have it.

They recommended HP Pavillion 14 or ASUS Vivobook. Is it any good? It's around 3199.

Since I currently own an ASUS N750J (around 5 yo) with 12GB RAM and Intel i7 core processor, I'm wondering what kind of specs should I get?

1. Will it matter if the processor is AMD or Intel i3/i5? Which processor is better or does it matter?
2. 8GB ram or better upgrade to 16 GB RAM?
3. Screen display. The current ASUS should be an LED display, the HP Pavilion is IPS display, is it an upgrade?
4. Main usage: Work, multitask (open a lot of tabs on google) and use Microsoft office + zoom and durable (can last at least 3-4 years and withstand hardware updates)
5. Wait time: Plan for income tax relief in 2020 but if cannot get a laptop before 2020 then no urgency since I can't claim for 2020 anyway. cry.gif

The main reason for a laptop upgrade is because my google chrome seems to freeze and takes a long time to load. Other than that, I can bear with the speed of the laptop, still pretty good besides the boot up time.

Will it speed up if I upgrade to SSD and Windows 10?

Sorry for the noob level questions and really thanks in advance! thumbup.gif

I went to shop for laptop for my friend ytd. Many models out of stock also

The 2 models you mentioned are mediocre

One good alternative is to buy from Lenovo like I mentioned. Yes you need to wait a while but at least it's better than no stock

1. The latest ones: i5-1135G7, R5-4500U etc. But good specs doesn't mean it's a good laptop
2. Depends on your usage
3. Both are low sRGB IPS, but refer to above I don't recommend both
4. Get Thinkpad for better durability
5. Try to find models like Swift 3 and Aspire 5 A514-54

SSD will help, mayb add RAM if at 4GB

3. Both are low sRGB IPS, but refer to above I don't recommend both. What does sRGB IPS means? [COLOR=purple]
4. Get Thinkpad for better durability. [COLOR=purple]I had previous experience with thinkpads and it gets hot very quickly even though it's new.

5. Try to find models like Swift 3 and Aspire 5 A514-54
Any other recommendations besides Acer and Lenovo brands? How's the after-sales service? I only know how to go lowyat to service haha doh.gif

higher sRGB=more colour coverage=more colour accurate=colours don't look washed out

well they are not designed for continuous heavy loads

there's no other decent models at this price range

Looking for Ryzen laptop for normal usage, any Ryzen, just prefer AMD

weight as light as possible, as "Ultra" as possible, so 13.3 inch like that is best (cost not an issue)

Looking at OP first post it seems that it is Lenovo Thinkpad X13 AMD 20UFS09700?

Lenovo Thinkpad L13 Yoga G2 customize needs to wait >1 month from another thread in Lowyat, correct?

Went to digital mall turns out Lenovo Asus all no stock? Not sure Lowyat got stock or not

consider Thinkpad X13 AMD but expect 1-2 months wait time (unless fast ship model)
