Furiosa - Surprise to see Miller foregoing the frenzy storytelling style of Fury road and went with a more structural narrative. Not saying it's inferior cause the craftsmanship shown here destroyed anything what the rest of Hollywood can put out. Sadly it didn't get the projected blockbuster and unwarranted expectations, it can surpass Fury Road. Still a damn good movie. So if there will be another wasteland movie, I don't mind a continuation of Furiosa.

Boy Kills World - Like Monkey Man this is a breakout role for Bill Skarsgard as an unlikely action star. I really like the frantic and wacky premise. Shut off your brain and take in all the blood spatter gore. It's entertaining.

Long time no post....

Mickey 17 - I believe this is BJH weaker output. It's very similar to Okja, it's just got more Sci-fi. I do like Robert Pattinson's role as the lovable idiot. Just a tad underwhelming.
Novocaine - Bland and forgettable.
Anora - Manage to watch this right before Oscar. Mikey Madison deserve the win. I am floored by her performance. Pretty Woman meets Uncut Gems.
Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League - The movie is as dumb as the title. I love the reimagining of JL in the anime aesthetic with very flashy design and animation. Shut off your brain and stop questioning the nonsense plot.

Hope The Accountant 2, F1, Ballerina can lift the dry spell of good movies.

Don't go thinking this is Mr and Mrs Smith, tonally this is closer to David Fincher's The Killer. So lotsa drama scenes but perfectly executed by the sleek pairing of Fassbender and Blanchett. It's confident and a rather satisfying 3rd act. Again this is an adult spy drama and not some mission impossible rip-off.

What's up with the sudden surge of prestige spy thriller? Eddie Redmayne did Days of the Jackal, Fassbender's The Agency and Black Bag. Now this.

The selling point is pitting the against type characterization. So you have the techie nerd slowly morphing to a competent killer in rooting out the cover-ups and of course his vengeance on his wife's killers. Initially I write off this movie is any good until I saw the impressive cast list. It's a lot better than I expected. This is not a gun toting and boom-boom type of action movie.

I'm not that hot about this. Granted they are trying something new but it didn't click for me. The way the vampire depicted remind me of American Vampire comic books. I did appreciate the black culture and nice use of that era music. Do look out a for a very impressive music performance.

Neanderthal can skip this as it will be too woke for your ass backwards taste.

Please watch this so it can become a franchise. The witty banter between Berthal and Affleck is very engaging. There are some literal funny sequence involving them bickering. The plot has enough depth to keep things moving and like John Wick it reveal little more how the accountant network come to be.

Haha i also watched Amateur already Also starring JB inside but as the bad guy😄😆

As much as i liked explosive action but Rami Malek being the nerd suits his style as geek who kills without the killer instinct laugh.gif laugh.gif

Sounds exactly like old school avenging wife killer vigilante except with more political layering sub plots🔥🔥

Do i want 2 watch it again like other action movies Hell no But for first viewing worth the money hahahaha

Yeah The Amateur is not bad.

This one just drop on Prime. It's a shame didn't get to watch this on big screen. Not surprise if this nabbed Oscar for best sound design. Again lower your expectations as you are not watching glorified version of Hollywood war movie. No swelling score and super expensive slo-mo cgi battle scenes.

It's all hyper realistic and PTSD inducing moments. This movie literally show you the intense brutality and nobody wins messaging. When the shit hits the fan, clever use of sound design and the constant screaming of downed soldiers really pushing you over the edge. Then you have the let's fuck shit up finale to drive home the absurdity. It's the most effective anti-war movie in recent years.

Ballerina - Pretty jolly time to be had with Ana De Armas as the baby baba yaga. Storyline and set-up pretty much non-existent...then action set piece is a blast. So many creative kills and for me the most memorable one is the grenade segment. Let's not kid ourselves, the main reason for us batang to watch is solely to cuci mata with Ana's beauty. She looks fabulous and not forgetting the kickass stunt works.

This is a continuation of the well received Predator Prey. Here you have three warriors of three different timeline taking down three different Predator in a rather satisfying as action sequence concerned. So what if they group together in Predator home world? And of course Amber Midthunder!!!

Remember Hollywood forced Jai Courtney as the "it" leading man with streams of mediocre movies. Like Sam Worthington and Taylor Kitsch all found redemption after their failed climb at the A-Lister club. Here he is really good as the creepy but yet charming serial killer. He has this peculiar obsession of feeding his victims to the sharks. Of course the thrill is seeing the main girl outsmarting the killer. Cool slasher cum thriller movie.

The guy who brought us Barbarian, his latest doesn't disappoint. Rumors has it bitter bidding war behind the scenes for getting this movie made. The jizz is the mystery of missing students but unravel via Rashomon type of storytelling. Each iteration of the account intensifies as the main culprit came to the surface. Good watch with enough suspense and some masterful jump scare. Great cast who brings in the horror and surprised humor to drive the movie.

The cast is excellent, the acting strong and I loved how the characters’ stories are told from their own perspectives before converging toward the end. It kept me guessing the whole way through, and the trailer wisely gave very little away.

I read in an interview, David Fincher had a hand in the editing stage and providing feedbacks on the script. Hence his name is in the thank you nod at the end credits crawl. Basically he godfather this movie.
Also Jordan Peele lost a bitter bidding war to produce this movie.

This is the frontrunner comes award season. Solid castings and a very accessible PTA movie. When you take out all the premise, fundamentally it's a father-daughter story that told through highly unusual circumstances. Yeah it weaves through many tonal shifts as early on you can't really tell where it's going. Then the second half with the stakes ramping up and plot points started to converge, it sticks the landing. It has Coen brothers ironic storytelling element and also a bit of Martin McDonagh dark comedy. Chase Infiniti is the stand out as she can go toe to toe with Sean Penn and DiCaprio.

Surprised the Republicunts didn't cry over this movie as it does mirror a fair bit of the shitshow going on in the US. For the record, this was filmed before orange turd got elected.

It's ok...not great but not unwatchable. The world building is not as rich as Legacy but enough eye candy vfx to keep you occupied. Truth be told the plotline rather simplistic with a big McGuffin to drive things forward. Also the MCU-ish sequel baiting is very lazy writing. MVP is the NIN score that really drives the excitement of the action sequences. Time will tell whether it can hold up to Daft Punk's legendary OST.

On a whole I would rather rewatch this than FF on streaming later on.

Demon Slayer is too shonen for my taste, Chainsaw Man thread between shonen and seinen. It can go overt OP edge lord while embedded with dark psychological story beats. Another main reason to watch is Mappa Studio. Like JJK 0 the movie, it took it to next level with nuance emotional beats and the fight scenes just blow your mind. Sit through the slower build up in the first half of the movie, once the Bomb Devil revealed herself it's non-stop action.

I wish to say this is that pretentious style over substance trainwreck. There's a lot to like but also some really terrible story structure. There are some okay action sequences but it's not even that integral to the bigger picture because how they present the supposed narrative hook. The art direction and cameos of forgotten stars is the attraction for me. It come across an incomplete experience.
