Haha, i tought about the 81/85 combo, but most people say that EMGs sound too trebly in basswood and alder, something like Slayer's tone. Don't really like that.
Is this true or just some dumb myth?

Haha, true.. That's why i'm planning on getting an Epi LP with Alnico 2 's in them for my Slash playing.. And i'll probably get some DiMarzios or SDs for the RG for my heavy metal playing..
Thanks for all the help guys.

Isn't the Kahler a good trem man? And i don't think i want to sell my RG because i play a lot of metal and starting to learn shred too. Don't think the LP would be too good for those.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jul 3 2007, 02:57 PM) if its not the kahler that kerry king is using, then i dont want it HAha, you got high standards. Yea, both KK and Jeff Hanneman use Kahler trems. But i bet it's not the same 1 as in that guitar above.

Haha, chill man... They have huge hands, suited to the LP neck...mine are tiny.. I've tried playing fast licks on a LP before, kept messing up.. Maybe i just have to get used to it first i guess.. Wizard II necks to LP necks are a huge step in a different direction.. And yeah, Zakk Wyle pwns. I get the point.

Sorry to bring this thread back up. I was just browsing around and came across the LTD Alexi-600. Looks to be a really nice guitar. I asked around and can get it for RM5620. I was just wondering, would getting that and replacing the EMG HZ H4 with an EMG 81 be a good idea? Off my budget, but i'm willing to save up a little longer and get one if its going to be a good buy. Want it to last me long term. Also, i prefer it over the RR24, maybe because i'm and Alexi fanatic. Also, i've seen it at Guitar Collection but its a lot more expensive there. Would they let me try it out? I want to see how it plays. Or do you think they won't trust me with it since its expensive and all?

But isn't the RR24 also around RM5.5k? Not much of a difference there. I'm not sure about the case though.

QUOTE(blacktrix @ Jul 26 2007, 07:34 AM) If you're an Alexi fanatic, why are you swapping the HZ to an 81? If you're using a small amp, really no difference in sound. I'm a fan of his playing, not his tone. I prefer the sound of the EMG 81 for leads. And it would save me the trouble later on when i get my hands on a Randall RG50TC. Wow, i didn't know about the SD Blackout switch. And i do hope they upgrade his sig to an EMG 81. I guess i'll just wait and see what happens. Not as if i'm going to buy it any time soon anyway. Gotta save up a whole lot of cash. EDIT: How do the Blackouts compare to the EMG 81? Haven't heard much about it at all. And i checked with Bentley, the RR24 is RM5950 without a hardcase or anything else for that matter. So, not really much difference between the Alexi-600 and the RR24. Haha, i give up man, i'll just use my RG whenever i need to use the neck pickup. How much would the Edwards come up to converted+shipping+tax and what not? I just tried an RR24 at Bentley just now, very nice. But seems a little to small to my liking. And also, they only order in the white with black bevels. I would have preferred a black with red/yellow bevels. Best price they could give was RM5.5k, excluding hardcase. The hardcase is RM350.

Its made FOR the US market dude, not made IN the US. That's why the bottom horn is longer than the Japanese Edwards and ESP models to avoid copyright infringement of Jackson's RR style guitars in the US.

^Although its an LTD, it has awesome build quality man. I had a look at one (didn't get to play it) once, it was flawless in build and everything was top notch. The high end LTDs are really good guitars. QUOTE(Everdying @ Jul 26 2007, 10:21 PM) how much longer is the horn compared to the jackson RR? The length of the lower horn is somewhere in between an RR and King V's lower horn. If i'm not mistaken, they did get sued by Jackson or something like that. Thats why they made the lower horns longer. So now its like the PRS vs. Gibson case a while back. If Jackson files a lawsuit now, they would most probably lose as the Alexi LTD is not 'exactly' a copy of the RR. The LTD's lower horn had to be changed as they wanted it in the US market, but in order to sell in the US market, they had to register the company under US manufacturers legal bullshit or something like that. That move makes them vulnerable to charges by other US companies (ie; Jackson) for copyright infringement. Besides that, the Japanese ESP Customs and Edwards still have the RR body shape as the those companies are registered in Japan, where Jackson can't sue them since they're outside the States. Hope i made sense, its late. This post has been edited by fatboythin: Jul 27 2007, 01:38 AM

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jul 27 2007, 01:54 AM) i dont think they got sued. instead they modified the shape cos they knew the chances of a lawsuit was there. this is different from the Gibson vs PRS, as anyone who doesnt even play guitar can tell its exactly the same even with the slightly extended horns. anyway, loosely quoted from the Gibson vs PRS case. now the RR and LTD? no confusion there. Oh sorry, i got the wrong info i guess.
Yea, some considerable difference between the lower horns. This post has been edited by fatboythin: Jul 27 2007, 02:39 PM
