I just recently purchased a Corsair HX1000 power supply and while playing games time have very annoying coil whine, went to the shop and complaint changed another new unit also still the same, im tired of it already. anyone experience with coil whine issue before? is it my house electrical signal noisy? or is it my motherboard issue?
i borrowed a cyber power UPS from office with EMI and voltage regulator build in and bypass it to test thought of will get rid of the whine but still also have the coil whine when running intensive graphic time (reduced a little only)..
my motherboard is Gigabyte Z370 gaming 7 and graphic card is asus 2080 strix...
im scratching my head now for weeks...sigh
the buzzing sound coming straight right from the behind of the power supply grill...not graphic card coil whine...
the sound is kinda high frequency pitch...a noisy gpu fan at max speed jet pulling those sound were way more relax than this type of high pitch nonstop coil whine...

many psu will have coil whine during gaming or full load. My Seasonic one does produce this buzzing noise sometimes during gaming, sometimes it will go away.

glad that u all also have this experiences, i thought im the only one facing this...
I almost though wanna give up this hx1000 ady and get another psu seasonic brand due to this problem because reviews very positive, thx for letting me know.
well i guess then i have to shift my cpu put below the table tho, because currently my pc is sitting on the desk side way with the backside of the power supply facing exactly direct my face..
actually i had tried before put on the floor below the table and the buzz reduced a lot. because not so prefer due to dusty, i guess now no choice, have to flip the left side glass panel to the right because afraid accidently kicked by foot and then put it on the floor (right side bottom)

yeah lucky office have UPS borrow to test, i returned it back. if not waste money go and buy and then no result. seems like the UPS can't hold long, starting is less buzz then after 20mins play game the buzz is like a bee already...so annoying... im thinking is it mobo + psu combo issue not match hmm.gif
actually my experience is like this, previously was using silverstone 750w gold psu (2 years old) and then after change gpu from 1070ti to rtx 2080 the card coil whine very loud and also psu have coil whine (both together bangwall.gif )
so i bought corsair hx1000 to replace it, and the card no more coil whine already but just left the psu only..
my guess is these better high tier psu absorb all the dirty electric resonance or whatever etc (im not electrical engineer thanos maybe im wrong) and deliver clean power into pc hence the gpu now no coil whine...previously the gpu coil whine was very obvious lol..

Yeah, just use it normally. It does not explode also what, it still have lots of juice for you to pair more GPUs, and support your extreme overclocking. Manufacturing can't control production of 100% perfect products, I believe if the item works normally and functions as intended, we can actually ignore the small matter. Replacing it will take you months and time is money, aye? You have used it for quite some time right? Then just keep it rclxms.gif

yeah true, power supply coil whine actually 100% does no harm to pc components just the coil vibrate only, but just so annoying laugh.gif
actually googled around they said put some hot glue around the coil area and let it dry up. will reduce the coil whine... but me ain't gonna do that to void the warranty lol

Friend, i have also HX1000 PSU and Asus Rog Strix 2080. And guess what? I have coil whine on PSU...or MB which is Asus Rog Strix Z390-E. But I hear buzz only from PSU, so let's say that is PSU that cause the noise.
I was very afraid of smth like not enough power, or whatever and then I realize that everything work fine, even my TimeSpy score is above of other people that have same spec as me. Only thing is that is so annoying, but luckily i have good headset and while play games I dont hear it all the time...otherwise i will go to return this one, but all the mess with cables going through again is pain in the ass for me...i have NZXT h700i and all cable managment is perfect...so u know what i mean..
And last thing I wanna say is lot of people told me different things about this like is dangerous is not enough power etc... I have conclusion there is no harm to pc or whatever, it is only annoying thing that I have to deal with.. Im very sat that whole pc cost me around 3500$ and I got this...so sad. My last pc was 500$ work fine, quiet nothing...idk what to say anymore, just tilted... confused.gif

Me also have quite same setup like you guys, Asus ROG Z390 Maximus XI Hero pair with Asus ROG Strix 2080 graphic card. It just very annoying because im using speaker when playing games. And it's a very new pc, RM12k pc, not cheap though, just bought it last January. I was thinking to return back the psu too, but just like JuStice47 said, "all the mess with cables going through again is pain" shakehead.gif

yes bro myself spend so much as well same like you...i changed the 2nd one already but still exactly the same.. all is new sealed stock nobody open before...very bad QC Corsair this time skip job or lazy i don't know, the coil they should tighten it or glue it around more or use a better quality supplier... must be cut cost bastard.. coil whine is a very STRAIGHT FORWARD thing.. the coil vibrate
im using creative sound blaster AE-5 discrete sound card through analog cable and the sound pass through it buzzing out from speaker a little...i don't use the digital cable from sound card output to speaker because this sound card DAC the best sound over it's digital tosk link output...no choice have to move on with it
u can try return but u will 90% get back the same issue... it's these whole batch manufacture like this i guess...

it is very obvious man even using a good UPS with build in EMI filter and voltage regulator delivering clean power to the psu also it still coil whining... what a f**king lousy coil build quality!! HX1000 my ass

HX1000 is platinum rated right? Can try seasonic products. Their support is quite responsive, product is guaranteed.

yeah HX1000 is platinum, honesty say actually all the effort Corsair they made to silent a psu tech is totally no point, such like zero rpm fan or whatever etc, because at the end of the production line this product is so noisy caused by the build coil quality which keep vibrate and generate such a high frequency electrical coil buzz...
all these coil whine bee buzz sound louder than anything else.. zero rpm fan mode also no use...very low ripple measurement even at 90% load (yeah this one is very top notch of HX line corsair did very good job) also no use...105c japanese capacitor also no use.. the whole product is unpleasant to use due to manufacturing QC issue of the coil which is totally out of the question upon all their advertised advance features...
