the case is
1 of the car's tyre is ruptured, cannot be fix..needed replacement
my mom then replace with 1 piece of what i saw is dunlop SP sport J5
when i went and look at it, i can't find the 4 digit manufacturing date anywhere on the tyre
what does that mean?

now as normal method is tyres has to be replaced in pairs so both grooves are the same for equal grip
should i replace the other 1 with the same tyre?...not knowing what the manufacturing date is?
or return the tyre and go elsewhere?

Yeah, easiest way now is to jack the car and remove the wheel if want to check other side.
Probably can do in 15-30mins with the tire jack that comes with the car, include putting the wheel back.

Hope they didn't tighten it too much... i hate having to jump up and down on lug wrench

I'm using this tyre, and facing the same as i only manage check one side before install, another side done by another staff.

So i use my handphone selfie to snap with flash like ON. Of course not everytime so lucky manage to get the date spot, else push your car a bit, let it rotate.

At the end, i manage to get both tyre manufacture date without jack up or removing it. My different for about 2 months... sweat.gif

So instead of keep worrying about how old is the tyre. Why don't you just use a method like those mentioned here to find the date of the tyre? Jack up or not or use phone camera and so on also works. Talking only doesn't work.

Once done then you can decide what you want to do.

Why worry so much unneccessarily when you do NOT know the age of newly installed tyre is 'old' ..........
AND tyre manufacturers say their tyres are good up to 10 years post manufacturing date!

whoever told u that is fooling with u, and u fell for it
a tyre's expiry date is 4 years from the manufacturing date
if u reach the 4 year point, doesn't matter if your tyre still got thread or not, need to change tyre because the rubber is harden already

So you're more knowledgeable than tyre manufacturers and their Associations from Europe, Japan, UK ?

Btw, I'd previously replaced two Michelin XM2 tyres after 115,000 km usage at 6.5 years post manufacturing date.
Currently running another pair of XM2 with 55,000 km usage with 4 years post manufacturing date.
Are you more competent than Michelin in advising a user like me to condemn the current pair of XM2 tyres, according to your '4 year' myth/blufff ?

after years of playing with cars, learning cars, working car, modifying cars
i learn not to believe everything that car manufacturer tells u, they're there to earn money from u
give u some example...never believe a car manufacturer telling u to pump 250kpa into a perodua axia, it's at the side plate, u can check
it's basically over inflating the tyre
also never believe authorized service center tell u u need engine flush or radiator flush or transmission flush
those thing basically destroy the part that it flush

now, since u told me me your tyre has been driven so long
when you're driving faster and faster, did u hear a noise that is getting louder and louder as u go faster?...the sound is very rough
if u drive cheap car like a saga/axia(no soundproof), u barely even hear the radio...u need to turn up your volume
u realize it's not as quiet as when the tyre is brand new anymore
that is your tyre rubber harden already...and due for replacement
if u go inspect your tyre, you'll see alot of wrinkle/crack..that is another sign of your tyre rubber harden already

let me simply to u on why i change my tires every 4-5 year, same as many members here
1. the rubber harden already
2. can see wrinkle and crack on the tyres
3. it's producing loud rough noise when driving high speed...noticeable when driving low end car with no soundproof
4. the tires are the only thing that separate u with the road
5. other than caring for my safety, i need to care for the safety of other drivers on the road as well
6. i do not want my car's tyre to explode when driving fast on the road, causing the car to lose control and hit the car beside me causing the death of that driver while i'm still alive
i cannot live with that guilt because i'm ignorant and cheapskate

Don't worry so much about shelf life.

If stored properly (keyword being PROPERLY, not exposed to directly sunlight or excessive moisture), tires can still be installed after 6 years of storage + another 4 years of usage.

It's the exposure to the elements when driving that degrades the tires faster, that's why people recommend replacing tire after using for 4-5 years usage. But the storage life is much longer.

yes, proper storage..but most don't especially this shop that my mom sent to
but i've decide to change the other one to dunlop SP sport J5 as well
i don't want the extra effort to return the tyre and change to hankook(my other tyre) at another shop...the hassle shakehead.gif
although the other tyre is less than 1 years old
