Lol
ryder_78, finally decided to come in here to have a peek after my suggestion at the V20 thread? Just ditch the V20, LG is a shit company. By the way, I have beem using my Maye 20 X for a month now, and I am loving it. It is just like how I enjoyed using my Oneplus 3, only that this is much better in almost every aspect.
Better screen (colours more vibrant, brighter), larger screen, super large battery, very fluid UI (at times just a tinny winny bit slower than Oneplus, we are talking about milliseconds difference here, not like 5 seconds in the case of V20), awesome camera, good software support (compared to V20), reasonable price. Even the headphone jack quality is good, I would say 95% of the V20's quad DAC. But when comparing the audio output from speakers, the Mate 20 X completely thrash it. It is the loudest phone I have ever seen, just like having a dedicated portable speaker. It can even be too loud at times for my liking, at max volume.
The only thing V20 have that's better than the Huawei Mate 20 X are these:
1. Dedicated SD Card slot, not hybrid
2. Removable battery
3. Dual display (the Mate 20 X does not have a LED notification light and the floating display isn't really informative imo)
That's it. In every other aspect, it lags very far behind. The Mate 20 X is also a much better looking phone. No point being stubborn and singing praises of V20 anymore. LG is crap, period.
Haha buddy, I hear you man. The only aspect I don't like about the LG V20 is its battery performance, apart from all the negatives that you have mentioned. The phone is good during the 1st year. After more than 1 year, close to 2 years in fact, the phone is not so desirable mainly because I need to charge it on average 5 or 6 times a day, sometimes leaving the phone plugged to the wall outlet while I am using the phone to browse the internet to avoid the power from going down to fast.
I'm actually not singing praises about the phone. The fact is I don't simply change phones too often unless it is giving me problems. My last 2 phones were replaced only when they were giving me problems. The Nokia Pureview 808 was really a king when it comes to photography. Even though it runs on Symbian and is extremely slow in operation and pathetic, I still continued to use it. It was only when Symbian discontinued support for Whatsapp on the phone which means it cannot run on the phone anymore, I have no choice but to replace the phone with an Android one. I got a Xiaomi phone and long story short it was replaced by the LG V20 when it crashed and hung up too often with apps freezing and stuff, and I had to restart the phone whenever that happens.
Unlike most people who replace phones to keep up with the latest technology, I usually don't follow the trend unless the phone is giving me difficulty or problems. The LG V20 is starting to show signs of it but still not to the point of unusable. It's just that i need to do very frequent charging which at times do frustrate. I have tried charging the phone to 100% at night at about 10.00pm and leave it until the next morning. Surprisingly the next morning the phone showed 89% power left although it was on standby and not used. If I use the phone to browse the internet continuously, it will go from 100% to 15% before the warning sign comes up in say 1.5 to 2 hours, give and take. I guess the battery is not strong anymore.
All the good points that you mentioned about the Huawei Mate 20X are surely desirable and in my criteria as well, things such as larger, better and brighter screen (yes, I do find the V20's screen to be a bit dull even when switched to maximum brightness especially outdoors under the sun), fast operation, better camera (I thought the V20's camera is already quite good), louder speakers and lastly long-lasting battery. My LG V20 is not showing the slowness or lag as you mentioned yet, and it's only the battery performance that is the issue here. The Huawei Mate 20X's battery performance is surely one of the strong selling points. However, the latest comment on a forummer(apecorp) here on the reduced battery performance after the update is a bit worrying.
The Mate 20X will likely replace the LG V20 and will likely relegate the latter to hifi duties as a source, utilizing its internal DAC. Hopefully the phone will work as a source / music player without a SIM card. The time will come.
