Hey,
Wanna ask what is the consequences if we dont change name of the cukai taksiran from previous owner to current owner?
Will there be any impact on house ownership from legal perspective?
Thank you!

I believe its the duty of new buyer to change.
If seller is worried, you can effect the changes too. |

QUOTE(trainmaster @ Mar 24 2019, 12:44 PM) Hey, why would you not change ownership name? dont want to protect yourself as owner ka? you think you can escape payingWanna ask what is the consequences if we dont change name of the cukai taksiran from previous owner to current owner? Will there be any impact on house ownership from legal perspective? Thank you! without changing name? The old owner will not bother as they are not liable.. If you allow the arrears to pile up (for sure the old owner will not pay on your behalf ) one day, you may find enforcement officers at your door who will confiscate your household items to lelong to pay for the assessment you are owing..! bigman liked this post

Rule of thumb
If you are seller, after sold yr property and you continue to receive taksiran under yr name, meaning the buyer hasnt changed name. Time to take action as seller. |

QUOTE(hoilok @ Mar 26 2019, 11:18 AM) The lawyer office only handles the transfer of ownership with the local land office. The lawyer would then inform the seller once the deemed transaction has been approved and the ownership has been passed on to the buyer. With regard to cukai taksiran, it's a matter between the seller and the buyer only. The lawyer would facilitate the process via notice or reminder to either party only. But the new owner would bear a greater risk of property confiscation if he/she continues to ignore the change of ownership notification with the relevant local authorities.
