Household Cukai Taksiran Name Change

Hey,

Wanna ask what is the consequences if we dont change name of the cukai taksiran from previous owner to current owner?
Will there be any impact on house ownership from legal perspective?

I believe its the duty of new buyer to change.

If seller is worried, you can effect the changes too.

if u dont pay, then they will go after the previous owner

which in turn the previous owner will come after u.

so better go change.

diff town council diff procedure, check on their relevant website for info

why would you not change ownership name? dont want to protect yourself as owner ka? you think you can escape paying
without changing name? The old owner will not bother as they are not liable..

If you allow the arrears to pile up (for sure the old owner will not pay on your behalf ) one day, you may find enforcement officers
at your door who will confiscate your household items to lelong to pay for the assessment you are owing..!

Actually, is it buyer or seller’s responsibility to inform name change? The form like say both buyer and seller.. lol

according to a lawyer i checked, he said buyer..regardless buyer or seller, who do you think its at a losing end if no change??

Lol...buyer lah obviously... but some buyer continues to pay but never bothered to change name...it’s like they have a baby but yet they dun register the birth ...ha ha

Rule of thumb

If you are seller, after sold yr property and you continue to receive taksiran under yr name, meaning the buyer hasnt changed name.

Time to take action as seller.

The law already clearly stated.....if seller didnt advise authority of the sale of the house u liable to 2000rm fine or 6mths jail mah...

To be fair, so far haven’t heard of anybody eating free curry rice because of that lah.. but, law is law, better safe than sorry
