when banks increase your limit that means you have a good credit score, aka you pay your credit cards on time, the banks want to encourage you to spend more.
The banks won't decrease your limit if you don't spend to the max every month, just leave it be and keep your credit score up.
The extra limit will be flexible for rainy days.
