Yes. Would not hurt to buy something with an additional safety feature. You never know. As we age, sometimes the tendency to forgot something, just for precaution.

Yeap I had both of them, Gas Hob that can shut off if fire were put off + Hood that will turn on if detected gas odor.

Don't get the wrong idea I do not against these feature, I'm just stating don't rely on it 100% especially when TS said he is considering adding fans.

thanks. ya i see a lot recently renovated kitchens/laundry areas are using this type of fan. how's your experience with it? but i also see some ceiling height is quite low thus the fan seems to be a bit low and reachable by hand, safety risk

may i know what's your ceiling height and if you feel the fan is too low?

i hv door between my kitchen and dining area. the fan is about 9 feet above floor.
my ceiling is 11ft tall (originally 13 ft tall.. and i do plaster ceiling to remove 2 ft)
hard to reach with my height 165cm even with arm up. i still need ladder to do cleaning instead normal plastic chair.
so far so good. honestly i hardly open since my house quite cold due to high ceiling and surrounding by forest.
so far so good and easily control with remote.

Is not adviseable to have a fan in the kitchen if you are using a gas stove. Fix an exhaust fan to draw out the hot air.

If not using gas stove, you can consider the ceiling oscillating fan which is good for tight space.

Thinking to install ventilation fan in my kitchen.
Which one is best to draw the air out, ceiling mounted or wall mounted?
If ceiling mounted, does the fan need exhaust duct or can leave it the air simply sucked above the ceiling?

for sure the exhaust shall be directly to outside, unless your kitchen is in the middle of the house where there's no direct access to outside then you will have no choice but to exhaust it to the ceiling void.
