Y740 15inch.
I prefer lightweight N portability.
I play just dota 2 mostly..diablo 3 sometimes.
If got mood maybe COD.
Prefer the one with better screen display.
My budget 8k.

Thx.

Selenite is good if you:
Don't need TB3, bigger battery, onsite warranty, GSYNC with MUX
Don't mind mech kb, slightly louder fans, upgrading dual channel RAM by your own
Mind thin bezels+lower weight+smaller footprint, nosecam, heavy power brick, cheaper price

Nope - unless someone can borrow me their unit

Finally can customize...glad that even 1650 model has 170w adapter after so many complaints online about battery draining (never happened to me) - yes it's heavier but I prefer the approach more

Hello everyone,

Y540 user here. I did my purchase from SG lenovo website and received the laptop a week ago.

Laptop configuration:

Intel® Core™ i5-9300H
GTX1660Ti 6GB GDDR6 192bits with Samsung VRAM
Full HD IPS 144 Hz 300 nits (BOE NV156FHM-N4G)
8GB DDR4 2666MHz SODIMM (Micron 8ATF1G64HZ-2G6E1 running at 19-19-19-43-2 (tCAS-tRC-tRP-tRAS-tCR))
Audio Realtek ALC257
Intel 256GB Solid State Drive, M.2 2280, PCIe-NVMe (Intel 760P SSDPEKKW256G8L)
Intel® Wireless-AC 9560
3 Cell Li-Polymer Internal Battery, 57Wh (SMP L17M3PG2)

I would say the laptop is a well thought out design, a carefully engineered product comes with sturdy build. I like the idea of major ports/ connectors placement at the rear. Definitely love the clean and professional look.

Haven't really got the time to game on it. Only did some tests and system stability check mainly with throttle stop and prime 95. Starting with -125mV for both the core and cache. Average 4.0G 4 cores up to 85°C.

Pros:

Good quality and build. Thin bezel and premium look.
Good overall performance and value for money.

Cons:

Horrible touch pad button clicking sound. Inherited from last generation i supposed :/
power brick literally look and weight like a clay brick but it serve the job well.
Only 1 NVMe slot available.

Nice...glad that you got the BOE panel (slightly slower ms but better contrast compared to LG 144Hz)...suggest adding another 8GB for dual channel

Don't use Prime95, unrealistic load

Have time for some thermal testing? (Aida64 FPU+Unigine Heaven)

Use FPU only+Heaven not single test

RAM is RAM, any 8GB 2666MHz RAM will do

Max fans? Ambient temp? Power consumption for CPU? Let it run for at least 10 mins, and don't use benchmark in Heaven

Yeah Max fan, and normal room ambient temperature. Both profile tested for 1 hour long with/without benchmark in heaven (more than 10 sets) only the last 3 tests were recorded. Throttle came in quicker and harder with heaven bench enable. Power consumption is soft capped at 45W, could see it draw 50-55 sometimes.

For example

-125mV
CPU Max 96°C all core Min 3.3g, Average 3.60g with heaven benchmark
CPU Max 96°C all core Min 3.4g, Average 3.70g without heaven benchmark
Room temp ~26/27

Those temps sounds a bit high in Y540...might due to bad paste though

CPU power consumption at 45W with FPU+Heaven? Have you tried lifting up the bottom for more airflow?
