tried few times, still doesn't feel the one wiki mentioned, probably bad version ayam penyet kot. in wiki, aside from other stuff, it says "fried chicken dish consisting of fried chicken that is smashed make it softer" but i don't feel any softness when eat it. Abit harder to chew than kepci or regular homemade jiken.

Even the picture on the 1st post is not right. The ayam penyet should be partially cooked and then penyet before fried. It's supposed to be dry and crunchy. Eaten with sambal and raw vegetable.

A proper ayam penyet is the ayam kena rebus with all the ingredient yada before kena goreng b4 kena penyet.
Sadly local alot dont do that and people think ayam penyet as just ayam berempah that kena penyet with sambal.

Many wannabe seller dont do justice to many regional cuisine. Seeing they skimp certain ingredient, prep step or side dishes; only to follow up with stupid trend is a blasphemy to the origin.
