It is a huge hassle to hire foreigners for junior positions. There are 10s of thousands of fresh grad in SG without a job. The government is clamping down on hiring foreigners to give locals a higher chance to secure a job.
If a company wants to hire you, they first have to interview over 20 local candidates. They then need to present a report to MOM (Ministry of Manpower) justifying why they want to hire you instead of the locals - pending MOM approval. If a local can do what you do, it is almost guaranteed that the application is rejected.
Even if that is approved, the company will need to go through the hassle to apply a work permit for you (let it be work permit, S-pass or E-pass). These passes are tied to the company. If you try to be 'funny', the company gets penalized.
So, yeah, it is not motivating at all to companies to hire foreigners - especially for junior position.
