My guess would be there are still stalls at the roadside still not accepting any type of digital payment? Or sometimes the digital payment system is down and you would need to pay cash?
Cash can be used anywhere. e-wallet, not so much.
haiyaa...not everyone as tech/financial savvy as you/us
1) some need cash for quick spending, eg rental, bills, remittance, etc
2) some dont use internet banking, ewallet, or even having smartphone
3) with smartphone... then need data plan, need to keep renew/subsribe plan after quota finish, etc etc --- additional cost to maintain connectivity
4) with smartphone... not to forget upgrade phone too when the app require higher OS level --- again, additional cost
5) some paranoid of technology
6) some even prefer counter over ATM (good example, my father

)
7) some prefer do cash-based transactions
8) some merchants dont accept ewallet/digital payments
9) some places no/poor internet coverage
10) etc etc etc
I guess I misunderstood the whole thing. I thought people got to ATM to top-up the e-wallet. It is the other way around. My bad
