first step is to check gas pressure and compressor drawing amp. then only can make the conclusion.
if pressure high(higher than normal) and drawing too much amp then likely filter problem.
drawing too much amp will overload the compressor and give that error.

but if pressure low then need to check for leakage in the connection or indoor coil or outdoor compressor leak

Overload of compressor . Or the compressor run kaokao also hard to reach the set temperature.

Try this

Power off 10min then on back. Not the remote But the switch to the AC
Set temperature to 26c. Turn on
Listen to compressor run.
If the compressor turn on then off then on again, then OK.
Look at the hose near the compressor and see if got see ice on the pipe. If got = just refill gas
If the compressor turn on and continue to run until the error come out then off, then possiBle change the relay at indoor unit. Should be a rm10 item

Indoor unit is changeable. Pricing depends on the reseller if cut throat or not. 2nd hand air cond is also not bad. Used 1 hp including outdoor unit only around rm300~400 again u need to know the technician before buying it.

So the safest is just to get a brand new one. Lazada has some good deals if you're into that.

Did exactly like u said. Set to 26, compressor still running after 15 minutes. Straight change to 31, it stops. Change back to 26, compressor run.

Bro, thanks for your troubleshooting steps! After i turned off the switch for 10 minutes, n try again, the unit is now working fine! Not sure what was the problem. If happen again, i'll just change to a new one. Cheers!

I am facing similar problem. On & off with blinking light.
Technician came & say could be thermostat faulty or relay swith. Yet cant determine the problem. Its been working fine for 20yrs. Now only got this problem. Its still blowing cold air.
Jus dunno why it on & off.

Still working, but depending on its mood. If i turn on the ceiling fan along with the a/c, it will work fine. But see la, if no luck, it will turn off.

My mistu mr the slim same problem after 5 years +... PCB board fried....my technician bypass the board. Can ON but cant control the temperature. Damn cold....

I just leave it be. But in ther future if ppl want to rent the place ill get it replaced with an inverter unit.

Check the outdoor unit motor whether it produce any loud sound. My case a while ago, the blade motor was loud and suddenly at one point, it stop. Changed the motor and fill up the gas and it working fine till now.
