Hi all sifus, im noob on rims n tyres. Pls give me suggestions.
Im gonna collect my new Ford Ranger 2.0 XLT+ Limited next week. Plan to add body kits and rim/ off road tyre to make it more 'garang'. But i while i survey online, it seems like my origial rim 18' wanna change offroad tyre very expensive. Im wondering should i downgrade my rim size to 17 or 16 since i want to change rim. 16' or 17' also cheaper compared to 18'.
Im not sure if i really need to change offroad tyre since i mostly drive in the city. But the original tyre really look a bit soft for me.
All sifus out there can give me suggestion/opinion pls?
Thank you very much.

I'm not a rim expert. Not even a car expert. But everyone wanna get bigger rims. You wanna downgrade?

Offroad is not everyone. Maybe consider other hobby?

16inch is more common in the market.the price of rim are cheaper can get around rm 1100-1300+
tyre also range from rm 350+ for silverstone at117(saw quite many use this for 4x4 tyres).depending on brand and maxxis would be one of the top pick for offroad tyres.

yes, 16' is a lot cheaper compared to 18' . 18' rim itself cost around RM2800 blink.gif
So u would recommend downsize?

Original is 18’. But I want change rim n off-road tyre. So maybe just one time downgrade the price will be a lot cheaper I guess. More comfort drive but performance donno how. Hmm...

Recommend to use smaller rim, because,
1. Better handling (body is lowered)
2. Cheaper tyre
3. Better fuel efficiency (lighter rim)

There are
HT - highway use
AT - all terrain
MT - mud terrain

If you 80% in city, you can use HT, more stable and better fuel efficiency

Ford ranger should not add body kit bcoz the body is already wide, it will be strange. Fit garang look, consider changing the bumper, add bonnet guard, and use raptor grill.

For the wheel arch, get the thin ones, FoRa is the widest pick up, unless you use ultra wide wheels, the wheel arch will look strange.

The false bonnet scoop, if you really need it, get the best ones, my friend's got melted

I recommend wind shield guard, that is cool.

I almost bought FoRa, just that I prefer the old model

Very subjective bro, I felt that the best for value and performance outs Bridgestone, yokohama, check out the dueller and geolander series

Michelin, Pirelli is too expensive for 4x4, not value for money

Sorry, it's bonnet guard

https://www.roughtrax4x4.com/genuine-toyota...or-2016-on.html

Small stones if hit the guard, will bounce off over the car, protecting the wind shield and bonnet

Actually for visual cosmetics, I rcmd these

a. Roll bar - go for Hamer knight series or Premium plus,
b light - add the black colour bracket
c. Bonnet guard, use black or silver or carbon
d. Fender - only if you find a thin one
e. Fake bonnet scoop - only if can get high quality ones

Accessories, go to Prosound in Cheras, pretty reasonable price

Tyre, any shop will do

That was my initial plan when I planned to get FoRa

Roller shutter price always the same, but the difference is the installer,

The cheaper model is more robust

The expensive one is more quiet especially when go through road bump but less robust

Choose wisely

Ford ranger xlt+ is 265/60 R18 kan? If u want to downsize the rim to 16 inch then best to get 265/70R16 tires which would be quite easy to source... this size is more or less the same size as the original size..so u dun need to adjust your odometer etc... 17inch not so common sizes if you want similar tire size to the original and hence would be difficult to buy cheaper tires..
Stay with the HT tires if you don't go off road. AT tires look more garang but is not worth it if you drive only on paved roads (highway ke nonhighway is still paved). You can google AT vs HT if you curious..
