thank guys.
So basically, just register through trade station, then moving forward all is through IB already.

Wow, just change place register then can enjoy the lower commission fees.
*
Correction. You are actually paying more for using tradestation.
Reason
1. Pure IB only few cents
2. Tradestation about 2-3 dollars.

kantoi took so long to open tradestation account. I open tradestation global account, want use their UK facility, but with USD instrument.

Money pergi to citibank NA, with funny personal account number attached just behind citibank account number.

Itu instarem bosong say can't do that, can only wire to citibank.

So now fund stuck, dunno IKBR can detect my fund or not...

already 10 days =(

inb4 GBP 1.5 per transaction or 0.12% whichever higher trap
*
You fund it like how you fund normal transaction.

QUOTE(alexkos @ Jul 11 2019, 06:13 PM)
kantoi, why no ppl mention that tradestation global needs min $5k deposit requirement?
*
Actually I said already. Think you didn't read. tongue.gif

bro can explain why you say IB is cheaper than tradestation or not?
If really cheaper I want to switch to IB leh, quite impressed with their mobile app and portal.
*
Tradestation underneath is still IB. Only difference is Tradestation does not tiered pricing which gives IB the cheap cost of few cents per transaction.

Using pure IB will incur a monthyly fee of USD10 unless you can furfilled their criteria.

Further reading for serious index investor

1) john bogle - common sense of mutual fund investing
2) markiel - fooled by randomness
3) zweig - your money and your brain (on our tendency to be overconfident and swing to individual stockpicking)

Btw, part of my phd study focuses on the advantage of going indexing as a way to invest. Stay tuned =)

Index investing have it's place but I am more inclined towards dividend growth investing.

any dividend growth ETF recommended?
*
I don't do ETF. I invest in the companies themselves.

QUOTE(chickenessence @ Jul 14 2019, 11:18 PM)
What will be the fee incurred?
is it just 2USD fee, then just *** SGD x conversion rate to *** USD?
"good rate" of FX conversion from SGD to USD (to make sure if you are buying USD stock/ ETF) offered by  IB.?
Is the above correct?
Can i also know what's the consideration you all have when come to choosing the following ETF:

VUSD:LN
Vanguard S&P 500 UCITS ETF

CSPX:LN
iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF

SXR8:GR
iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF

Thanks in advance
*
USD2 fee + whatever price you are converting at. IB exchange rate is spot rate (real time market price used by banks to borrow and lend each other) and cheaper than what's shown in google/XE.

so you are more to a stock picker? just lurking here for foreign broker instead of the index / ETF investing?
So what happen to your money? stuck somewhere?
And not suppose to remit / transfer fund from InstaRem to Captrader / Tradestation?
I thought i read somewhere that need to be from bank with your own name?
*
So far never invested into ETF yet as I reaping all the dividends. Dividends gained, keep to be reinvested back so that produce more dividend. ETF dividend too pathetic.

So far from what we know
Transfering Eur via instarem works.
Transferring USD via instarem fails as in alex case.
Transferring USD using Transferwise fail as in my case.

I sent my questions in a form of numbered list instead of paragraph, so he just replied directly below each.

Perhaps best if you can request for him to call you, and remember to specify time since London is 7 hours behind.

May I know roughly how long it takes to open an Instarem account?

How about the interview? Normally what will they ask?

Set a date and place. Keep in mind I think they only service Klang Valley people. If you are not in Klang Valley, need to make appointments to go to their office for verification.

It’s an interesting read.

If I have the fund, should I hoot SXR8 only or should also spread out to other Ireland domiciled ETF as well?
*
Pick one s&p500 fund domiciled in Ireland. No need to separate into different funds. All same only. Difference is expense ratio and currency.

I’m opening my instarem account today, yay.

Between captrader and Tradestation, which one are you guys using/prefer/easier to use? (Aside from the brokerage fee difference)

Both also straight away MYR > instarem > EUR ?

thanks guys
*
Tradestation global. Cheaper. Experience wise, same only if you login using interactive broker. About EUR part best to ask alexkos

See roarus reply below.
QUOTE(roarus @ Jul 29 2019, 04:32 PM)
I'm using TradeStation Global. I get access to SGX as well over CapTrader with no access to SGX.

Experience should be the same if you're using Interactive Brokers's Trader Workstation, WebTrader or IBKR Mobile.

MYR -> SGD -> TSG convert to USD. Partly because I can get funds cleared into TSG from my local bank within 1 hour and the other part because I'm horny over LSE's higher trading volume.
