Im from MMU, taking IT degree. If you wanna take Engineering, Uniten is the best choice. MMU's engineering course is good too so its up to you to choose.

MMU's Engineering is considered good. And, it offers variety of majorings here.
Actually, both MMU and Uniten seem to have the same standard in Engineering. So, it's up to your choice. Mind to enlighten me on this statement: QUOTE but Chinese scholar.....'many I seem didn't get the meaning you were trying to express here. |

I'm just curious as an English lecturer being transferred to Uniten saying Uniten is better than MMU in Engineering. And, English is only taught in Foundation at MMU and not even in Degree level, how can she manage to view the whole situation? This post has been edited by fruitie: Jun 18 2007, 02:50 AM |

I graduated from mmu. While it is not fair for me to comment on uniten, I'd say MMU is a good place to study engineering. Nothing is perfect in this world. What matters more is the student. If you are a good student, it doesn't matter how good or bad the lecturer is, you will still do well and acquire the knowledge.
If you really want to study and learn, I think MMU provides excellent resources for you to further you learning beyond the lectures. MMU has quite a reputation in the industry. Many of my classmates were hired by Intel, as a matter of fact, I used to work for Intel Penang Design Center before I left for better career advancement. You can have the best lectureres and course, but if you don't want to study, it doesn't amount to anything. It all starts from you.... This post has been edited by thtan: Jul 19 2007, 10:50 PM |

MMU more major in engineering, from optical to nanotech, which imo is better because it is more specific oriented
Uniten only a few, their electrical is combined with electronic And somehow MMU has more students, and more publicity on media. I can hardly see Uniten's ads on newspapers |

QUOTE(bidfordun @ Aug 30 2007, 09:20 AM) its this tape...usually made of plastic...and its semi transparent...oh...and its red in colorit has either white stripes on it or some kinda writing along the length of it its commonly used by the gov or other institutions of power to cordon off areas where the public is not suppose to go uniten loves to wrap everything in it u can barely see the object beneath now that wouldnt be too bad if they had a good labeling system but even that is kinda on the "havnt these people heard of Artline before?!" level hahaha....im just kidding about that last part there thats where the term originated from tho red tape in this context would mean procedures or paperwork that a person would have to clear before something can get done for instance, to get an activity approved, somebody has to 1st get the club hosting it to have an official meeting then minutes have to be submitted to the student council for approval then the student council returns a letter of approval to the club which then has to forward it to student affairs for approval the student affairs officer then has to get it cleared by not only his boss but also by finance and by the umbrella division under which the club is registered in the uni once this is all cleared, the dean and the registra has to clear it once those two are cleared, the students now have to apply for the finiance of the event from the finance division finance requires all the previous clearance forms to be submitted as proof along with an itemized costing sheet of all expected expenses for the activity then once thats cleared finance issues the...cash...not even a check so now the students have a butt load of cash and they have to go to the bank (which btw the university already has an account at and could just have easily performed a wire transfer) and deposit it the activity runs after the activity is complete, there is a whole lot more of reporting and paperwork to send in before the activity can be closed in the books...which i dont even want to bother going into so THAT, my friend, is what red tape is all about This post has been edited by neosaint99: Aug 30 2007, 01:38 PM |

I am an STPM graduate with a CGPA of 3.085.
UNITEN offered me to do a degree in Electric & Electronic Engineering in Putrajaya. MMU offered me to do a degree in Engineering in Electronics majoring in Computers in Cyberjaya. I'd appreciate it if current students in both universities share their experiences studying and staying in the universities, both the good and the bad. I may only stay for a month as I'm waiting for my public university application results and may leave for it if I'm offered the course I want in a public university of my choice. I'd also like to know the pros and cons for each university, in terms of accommodation (preferably the hostel), quality of education, facilities, food, fees, transportation etc. I have to reply MMU with RM 1.8K by 20th April, and UNITEN with RM500 by 6th May. Your replies will be greatly appreciated. Thank you |

QUOTE(ISFJ @ Apr 8 2009, 09:40 PM) I am an STPM graduate with a CGPA of 3.085. course-wise, they seem to have difference when it comes to specialization~ majoring in computers in MMU means u study on computer hardware as u get specialized subjects later on in year 3~ i suspect E&E from Uniten to be a general course~ with this said, it can be a matter of being specialized or not~ specialization means that u have to be in the industry or face low income~ a pilot who goes to become a teacher will be paid much less when compared to his piloting days~UNITEN offered me to do a degree in Electric & Electronic Engineering in Putrajaya. Thank you Added on April 9, 2009, 9:39 pm QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 13 2008, 08:26 PM) try taking a look here ->Multimedia University Multimedia University, Anything related to MMU (University) MMU vs UTAR, which one better UTAR vs MMU, Electronic Enginnering (Engineering) This post has been edited by sexualpower: Apr 9 2009, 09:39 PM |

QUOTE(stupidbump @ Jan 2 2008, 06:47 PM) lol, dont have to study hard pass with flying colors?some how I'm studying in Uniten and it doesn't seem that way. Honestly, I opted for Uniten because it's in Selangor and is about half an hour's drive from my house. If I had chosen MMU I'd have to be in Melaka for 5 years. |

QUOTE(nick_myself @ Apr 16 2009, 03:41 PM) lol, dont have to study hard pass with flying colors? cost for food is a bit cheaper in malacca when compared to KL~ room rental is also cheaper~ but other costs like comfort of home, home-cooked food and savings through using 1 less Streamyx account and the privacy may be a factor~some how I'm studying in Uniten and it doesn't seem that way. Honestly, I opted for Uniten because it's in Selangor and is about half an hour's drive from my house. If I had chosen MMU I'd have to be in Melaka for 5 years. generally I would advice students to take a trip and see for yourself~ distance between your home and the university can play a big role~ these days, degree eduction don't mean much after the initial first job anyway~ |

May I ask, does E&E Engineering in UNITEN still exist? Because I heard it's being replaced with Electrical Power and Electrical Communications. They offered me E&E Engineering which is the course of my choice, so I don't want to risk having the course of my choice changed into something else halfway through my study.
Urgent replies needed. Thank you. |
