My condo has recently experiencing some pop up tiles around the house. One of it is even cracked. Any sifu can tunjuk jalan what should I do? Preferably an economical way 😃..
Should I just replace the tiles of the affected area? Or replace for whole house? Or change to laminate flooring? Or vinyl flooring?
Many thanks in advance
Depends.
Cracked tiles should be replaced ASAP due to injury risk.
Laminate flooring, it is an economical fix especially if you have a lot of furniture and fixtures that are difficult to move or store. However some types may not be suitable for your lifestyle.
Redoing the tiles for the entire place, kind of like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut but if it is time to redo then its time to redo. Its a messy process though.
Changing affected sections is an option. Can be done especially if you are not particular that the colour of the tile would be different to the old ones. There will be some dust but there are ways to minimize it.
First off, it will need a contractor or tradesman that would take instructions. The steps are fairly simple, contractor to use a saw or angle grinder with either a dust collection or have someone with a powerful vacuum cleaner follow the blade. Cut out the sections of the tiles that need replacing, then slowly hack off till 2-3 inches deep, then replace the tile. Not the quickest but can be done even if it is a 3x3 tile.
