New tyre recently released I think to replace the T1R. Anybody has had a chance to try them out yet? Thread style reminds me of the RE003.

Looks like entry level performance category, available for smaller sizes. Hopefully not overpriced like those other T1R/T1 Sport.

honestly, way too new to comment,i do like the looks of the thread pattern, aggressive with big shoulder blocks, wonder it is made in japan, their T1R line up received very poor customer feedback though, but thats very old model tire
i looking into their comfort line CF2,rather old model as well but seems to score very good end user review |

The tread pattern looks like a merge between their T1R and T1S.

"The tyre is available in Malaysia in 24 sizes ranging from 15 to 19 inches in diameter, with recommended retail prices listed at between RM199 to RM800 per tyre." |

It is almost time to change my tires but I really wonder about this tyre. It just felt like it will be loud when it is worn out. Im currently on Fleva and the noise even when worn out is surprisingly good, even outperformed my previous set of PS3.

Sadly Toyo didn't mention or stated about noise & comfort level.. only talk about performance on dry & wet condition..

Not yet so far, will give review to you later. I just change my stock tyre, unnoticable about sound level. Its a asymmetric tire, comfort abit reduce if you know about this type. I'm looking for gripping type, comfort will be 2nd. Already used Parada Spec 2, RE003 before , so had to admit the roughness feel. Thanks This post has been edited by zackrossi: May 14 2019, 02:56 PM |

Didnt he say the V-groove is inside, while the flat rectangles on the outside of the car. Maybe you should look out for indicators like "inside/outside" or some kind of design pattern that looks like an arrow. i looked at both side, it is where it suppose to be, i will take a photo to show better what i mean tonight.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVTuMmgpqGs try 1:36 min there. see how the V Pointing different direction ? ![]() This post has been edited by demons88: May 2 2019, 02:20 PM |

Yeah the pattern honestly looks questionable especially for wet driving. Wonder how it will behave in heavy wet/water puddles, will it pull more heavily to one side during aquaplaning? Anyway we're not tire engineers, hopefully Toyo should have done proper r&d on this but I'm always a bit skeptical on Toyo in general too.

Claimed 16% better wet handling and braking performance compared with its predecessor, the Proxes T1R.
How's T1R wet performance? Anyone used before? |

So far I've read good reviews about it. Most users say this is better than the potenza re003. |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ May 2 2019, 05:09 PM) Yeah the pattern honestly looks questionable especially for wet driving. Wonder how it will behave in heavy wet/water puddles, will it pull more heavily to one side during aquaplaning? Anyway we're not tire engineers, hopefully Toyo should have done proper r&d on this but I'm always a bit skeptical on Toyo in general too. unless they use good material which help in aquaplaning. |

My "long" humble initial review of TR1. Been using it for 2weeks now. 1000km Before i begin let me lay down the basic info bout my car and how do i drive. 60-40ratio. 60 highways, 40 usual street. Weekend tauge roads. Car. Perodua axia, Running on 15inch 7jj rims. Tyre spec 195/50. Suspension adjustable coilovers with UR Bars. Previous tyres 1) PS3 2) ree003 3) ecopia ep300 (cause cheap and ppl did say can do tauge, so i try......) Location; Mainland penang, kulim, island. Pros. 1) price. Hands down. Bloody cheap compared directly to Ps3 and re003. 195/50/15 for PS3 Is bout 240-260. Ree003 bout 220-250 I got my set of TR1 tyres, Allignment and balancing in, (inclusive a free lappy bag) 185 each. 2) NVH. I feel TR1 is very very silent, my personal view, i say on par with the PS3, or maybe a tad little bit better, when comes to road noise (Both when tyres are new). Definitely much more silent than ree003. Now even with 1000km in, still pretty silent, especially at higher speeds. (130-160kmh). When running over water puddles or wet roads, i would say i am impressed, quite silent. Alot of the usual noise i hear is no longer present for time being. Hope it last for a while. Atleast to 50% threadwear.. As for ride quality comfort. TR1 walls are much stiffer, which i personally like, compared to the squishy PS3 but not as stiff as ree003. Ride feels more firm but hitting potholes or uneven surfaces will sakit hati abit more, not as forgiving as PS3. Those who use adjustables would know, soft wall tyres dont really give good "comfort", feels like the car have the mini bouncing feel. TR1 and Ree003, so far i say its more comfortable than ps3 in terms of ride quality with adjustables. (Personal preference) 3) Dry grip. Im very impressed. I will rate it on par as Ree003. It is very very sticky. Car feels very planted. No matter how i throw my ride, feels very stable and confident. 4) wet grip I had the chance to test several times this week cause now heavy thunder storms. I really feel confident, hard braking and cornering in the rain also feels very planted. Hit some water puddles, feels stable. I did try cruise 90-100 on highway with rain, feels stable. Ill rate it on par as PS3. Ree003 don't handle wet really well. Very scary 5) braking I feel my brakes bout the same. For all 3. Never really go try E braking. But feels confident hard braking to enter corners. 6) RR (roll resistance) Funny thing. I feel TR1 mcm lighter.? Car easier to move, compared to the other two. 7) Cornering (Tauge) Grip is fantastic, doesn't throw, very hard to get skid sounds. Steering response is sharp. Feels very much like ree003. Thanks to the stiffer walls, doesn't feel like the car rolls as much as when using PS3. Usually i need crank up dampening a few clicks for PS3 when tauge to compensate the roll, but for TR1, i didn't change my setup and it was superb. Will try different settings next weekend. Cons. 1000km and two trips of tauge roads. Can see thread wear quite abit. Conclusion. For the price i would say definite worth the try. Still too early though to recommend to those who want to find alternative to their ree003/ps3 or even the eagle. Sorry 15inch wheels no PS4.. But i won't recommend to those who only drive normally, don't do tauge or stuff due to the threadwear. Not exactly economical. Not much details bout it but i assume its similar to the other two, maybe 280? bout 30k km? Till botak? But if you don't mind. Then okay. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by VictorKeong: Jul 16 2019, 08:10 AM powerdave liked this post

QUOTE(zackrossi @ Apr 29 2019, 04:39 PM) It's size 195/55/15, fits nicely on my Persona fenders, replacing my factory tires after a year using it. Cost me RM800 per set includes balancing, alignments & tyre valve. Got FOC items as mention before. The tyre shop located at Sect. 1 Wangsa Maju. Authorized TOYO shop. The shop name Len Sheng Tyre. Aslo have branch at Bandar Puteri Puchong. How are you finding the TR1s with your Persona? Also, can share why you went 195/55/15 vs 185/55/15?![]() |

But I don't know why Malaysia only get local made models like the rubbish CC6, UC6 and so on. Why can't we get CPC6 and all of the good stuff Europe get. I know you can get imported CSC and some other UHP COntinentals but at a massive premium. Might as well buy Michelin at that price. This is why I no longer buy and recommend others Continentals after 2 bad experiences with MC5 and CC5. |

Yup, unfortunately Continental Malaysia seems only interested to promote the local line up which are the crappy stuff except the old CSC3 which is still pretty good. They should have brought in the CPC6 which is a true rival to the PS4. There's one model that is still a reasonably good buy though which is the Extreme Contact Sport with price range still very similar to PS4 despite imported from Europe but performance and durability might be even better than PS4. I'm using that one now and it's better than CSC3 and 5 that I had tried before. You're right Continental is a premium brand. Honestly it worth my investment. Why? This tyre what i hope for. Good grip in dry & wet, i'm just a carefull owner & sometimes abit naughty at traffic light Why I change to bigger ones @195/55/15? 1. Price difference RM10++, still acceptable for Persona fender, no scratching fenders when hitting road bumps & heavy load. 2. Contact to tarmac increase & grip more than standard size. BUT sacrifice a bit in FC, my style is always the green leaf light all the way driving to reduce FC differences. 3. Ecstatic looks. Tyre blend nicely with body. Just my opinion of views. ![]() |

QUOTE(VictorKeong @ Jul 14 2019, 11:31 PM) My "long" humble initial review of TR1. Then okay. https://pictr.com/images/2019/07/14/5HadUP.md.jpg https://pictr.com/images/2019/07/14/5HaoeU.md.jpg Hey, where did you get the tires from? Am in Kulim/Penang area too. Thanks |

Need opinion on Vios stock tyre CC5 185/60/15 to TR1 195/55/15. Is it suitable with family's type car ?
P/S : I am driving pretty fast on cornering as well but most of the times my wife's driving to work everyday. This post has been edited by valve: Sep 10 2019, 11:35 AM |

QUOTE(zackrossi @ Jul 22 2019, 05:57 PM) Hi. I plan for this tyre to replace my persona stock tyre as well...Ok already using this tyre before puasa until now. ![]() |

Bit the bullet and went to Len Sheng in S1 Wangsa Maju to change my 185 55 16 GY Excellence for TR1.
The tyres are nearing the wear indicator bars so decided to change. Have done nearly 45k km on the set of Excellence. Overall a comfortable tyre, a bit noisy and a softer sidewall. Looking forward to trying out the Tr1 after scrubbing off the release compound. |

After a week of driving with TR1s for about 300km.
Tyre noise level is acceptable on normal chip sealed roads, the noise is a lower frequency hum rather than roar. On fresh paved smooth tarmac, it is virtually silent so the tyre noise is dependent on the quality of the road surface. The car a City Hybrid, felt like it sat higher on these tyres and steering response is a bit more direct, there is no squat or flex in the sidewall before the turn is made. |

Just installed mine yesterday. Upsize from 185/55/15 to 195/55/15. Initial review for 1st 200km, the tire works as expected. Quite silent, the dry grip is good but sometimes i feel abit floaty maybe due thicker sidewall. Absorb rumble strips and speed hump quite well. Haven't had the chance to try it on wet surface yet.
Overall, im satisfied so far. |

Already change another set of tyre. Cheap one only due to budget constrains. My conclusions for Toyo is TR1 very good for performance & spirited driving. This tyre not for people that tend to be comfort, economical FC tyres. My previous TR1 already clocking 26k KM distance, so have to let go.

Then okay. ![]() ![]() Is it really grip on wet ? And quite? I hear alot of comment said that this tyre is noisy especially on higher speed. And worn out faster. |

QUOTE(GainKnowledge @ Apr 28 2020, 07:34 PM) How your TR1 now ? Still using ? Based on my experience, the grip on dry & wet is as good as PS3.Is it really grip on wet ? And quite? I hear alot of comment said that this tyre is noisy especially on higher speed. And worn out faster. However it is considerably much more noisier than PS3. Can't tell you yet of the rate of wear. Still new as this set was installed last February. |

Tested the tyre in Sepang. Well, it has good grip...Stable in hard high speed corner. Braking distance is short. And it has good wet grip too... Worth the money. This post has been edited by syncnsky: Oct 7 2020, 12:39 AM 6UE5T liked this post

Time to swap these for a new set of boots, * indicator down to 1 * and tread almost at the wear indicator bar. No wonder I’ve been feeling a bit skittish in the wet for the past 2 months. Done just about 36k km in these. Much better sidewall stiffness than the OEM Goodyear Excellence. Thinking to buy again or up car to Conti Ultra Contact 6. WaNaWe900 liked this post

QUOTE(WaNaWe900 @ May 8 2022, 11:12 PM) Really used it hah Was hoping they would last a little longer like up to 40kmine still good, thanks to PKP But didn’t really use much the last 2years except work commute. Before that, only a few road trips. I guess with regular tyre rotation, happy to say the 4 tyres look evenly worn. WaNaWe900 liked this post

Comfort CR1 Performance TR1 If you're just a city or highway driver that doesn't do touge then just get CR1 will do. Had few sets of them and I loved it a lot. |
