glossy = untreated, matte = added an anti reflective coating.

Consider matte an upgrade to have anti reflective, but at the expense of "Clarity?? (maybe?)"

Personally i dont think there would be much noticeable difference in color/clarity unless you work with glossy and matte screen side by side. Matter would probably be a better choice unless you work exclusively in a place where there is no light source behind ur laptop to reflect on ur LCD.
