I guess the advanced amateur model will be in the region of RM4-5k and the pro model will be more than RM10k! A100 is still a good and affordable choice for beginner level. |

check ebay for indicative prices. the f1.4 will fetch more than the f1.7.
f1.4 new from sony is >rm1k

damn.... still thinking between 400d or a-100
a-100 has good feature, ergonomics and value
400d has better image quality, but claimed to have poor battery performance

warranty even if getting the camera from normal dealer (fotokem, key color, foto shang etc etc) or from sony style is the same - they are both covered by sony malaysia and you can send them to local sony service centers for warranty claim ...... unless the set is water good or something like that.
a-100 image and eos400d image are both good. the eos400d only have the edge when doing low light. the a-100 performance in low light are good, just not as good as the eos400d.

probably will be getting the twin lens kit.... looks like good value.

i just got myself a Sony Alpha A100 for RM2.5K, 2 month old camera, with a 50mm f1.4, kit lens and a 35-80mm minolta lens. he gave me one helluva bargain lol. with warranty too |

yeah, i got the AF 50mm KM lens from him, f1.4, here are a few pics i took with that lens, i'm new to the dslr thing, so comments and all deeply appreciated , the guy who sold it to me was a student and he used to work for minolta, so he got the Sony Alpha, didnt use it, sold it to me  Say hello to my dog Yuki!  And Dinner!  |

The local Sony Style outlet here is selling the twin lens kit at RM3799, with free 8GB CF card. Single lens kit at RM2999 with free 4GB CF card. Same price as published on the website... except for the free CF card. 18 months warranty.
Should be fine lah right? Can't seem to find alpha at other normal camera shops here yet. Will do some more window shopping tomorrow.
What are common/universal accessories for DSLR .... lens hood? filter?
