Out of curiosity, is there any router only (no WiFi) that can be use with UniFi service (internet & HyppTV)? Replacing the given UniFi WiFi router.

i see. since linksys one support unifi. meaning has the PPPoE option. is getting a more advance router better than getting mesh wifi? if high-end model will it be possible to cover a double storey terrace?

Guys I'm on the 800mpbs turbo upgrade. Can I cancel my HyppTV subscription? I don't use it at all, paying RM30 for nothing. I have no contract whatsover, but have the discount from the upgrade. Paying RM232 per month.

I have complained to TM and also SKMM about removing UNIFI TV RM 30 /month. Received reply from TM via SKMM as follows :

UNIFI TV package:-

We wish to reiterate that TM is deploying Fibre optic infrastructure that will enable residents to enjoy a triple-play or three-in-one service of Voice, High-Speed Internet and IPTV (offering a new TV viewing experience). These Unifi services offered to the customer in one package, hence we are unable to provide separate service and fulfil your requirement to remove the HyppTV service itself. Therefore, we are sorry to inform that unifi TV service could not be removed from your unifi 100Mbps plan as it came in one package.

You may refer to the Terms & Conditions as follow:-

Clause 6:

6.5. Subject to availability, TM may provide to Customer with 'Triple Play' activation consisting of Internet, Voice and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and related TM's Equipment together with value-added services which may be provided by TM together with the subscription of the Service. The Customer shall not be entitled to any rebate or reduction of the subscription fee for any part of the Unifi Service that is provided by TM at no charge to the Customer.

Did you contact TM / CS to find out exactly what the (g) clause means? I'm just wondering if they actually told you that your package price will go up to advertised price from Jan 2020. Or its just based on some doubts / misinformation going around.

The 500M and 800M prices are already in the RM2xx and RM3xx range. We know this from a year ago when turbo was done. It is nothing new. Its just that they have not launched them as new packages so far for some reason. Go look at soonwai's post of his bill. You can already see the 800M price there. Go look at other 500M bills posted before. Perhaps you are not aware of this, that's why you think there is a hideous intention from them.

BTW, RM199 for 300M is also not new. Did you think all this while 300M was at RM139? It was not. It has been RM179/199/209/219.  Just because of a promo, users got it at RM139. So even the currently new advertised RM199 300M is not really new. Whether the price is too high is a different story though.

If you think about it, do you really think that TM would "trick" users who are for example paying RM1xx for 500M or 800M to start paying RM2xx or RM3xx from Jan onwards? Or they will lower your speed to 100M if you are only paying RM1xx.? There will be much backlash from users and the authorities if so.

While I can understand your frustration due to your circumstances and not being happy with your package, you should not let it cloud your judgement. I do agree with you about locking users in for 2 years. This has been clear from the start. Users know it already. They have reasons to do so, we may find out sometime next year what it is. Maybe due to competition.
Feel free to contact CS and get verification and keep a record of it in case you need it in Jan.

Just in general...

I really think there are some users who mistakenly did Change My Plan. Especially 300M users. Then they say they lost their discount. Then there are others on 500M and 800M who looked at Change My Plan page and saw there is no 500M and 800M package listed there. Then they say they are not eligible.

The result / conclusion these users come to is correct. Because if you choose new 300M plan, your price will become RM199. And there is no existing 500M and 800M plan to choose from anyway. But the process they did is wrong in the first place. They should use the "redeem" page.

Then they start complaining on social media etc. And say they are being cheated etc. Then others pick this up and start having doubts etc. Then they also go round spreading it. They get banned from FB for example. So they go elsewhere and start ranting and raving. Because nowdays, viral viral viral is everything. Right or wrong, no checking facts, no rationale discussion, no common sense used.

I have also not been pleased with TM on many things over many years. I think most regular forum users here are the same. But many have become so sceptical and suspicious that they don't even bother to check on things and just assume there is something bad going on.

I think there is no end to this until end of the year as users will popup in this thread and bring up the issue over and over again. Just have to read this thread from 01 Oct onwards.

I think those who wanted to do the YEP would have done so to maximize free bill. Those who haven't, either don't want to (which is ok) or have doubts (some unfounded). Already 1 month has past, so already 1 month less free bill.

Each user is entitled to decide what they want to do.

Yes, TM packages and pricing is not standardized at all. So many variations. But I guess we did get double speed once and then the famous 10X turbo. And there was no renewal of contract during turbo.
Don't think can get anything much better soon. Have you noticed much difference? Normal usage should  be the same. Should have no penalty, but check next bill carefully anyway.
Please clarify. You say RM169, but RM99 + 60 = RM159.
If your discount is now RM130, see after YEP is activated whether it changes to RM150 or not. Perpetual means as long as you are subscribe to your package. Not like some where discount is valid for 24 months.

I am paying RM109 for 300 mbps with ultimate package but no free call. Went to TM point to enquire about the YE promo. Was told not take up the offer as this is already a good package.

If I were to take up the offer will my package will be refreshed?  What if i did not? Will my package will be refreshed as well since i am not bounded by any contract now?

hey guys, did you guys notice Unifi still throttling mp4 streaming and downloading?

I have been getting throttled especially at night when streaming mp4s since years ago, but didnt care cos I'm not avid stream watcher, until now.

I used ExpressVPN and still doesn't seem to get past this Unifi throttle.... any idea how to circumvent it?

if want wifi to be consistent use Access Point Business like Aruba or Ubiquiti Separately not depend on router itself ...
