Apparently by default Android apps don't accept number inputs, hence any remote with numbers are usually for TV's with built in Android TV, and not dedicated Android TV box. Also that explains the shitty Unifi TV APP UI, where there is no guide, and instead you change the channel by going down and scrolling
That statement is focused on app not OS.Apparently by default Android apps don't accept number inputs, hence any remote with numbers are usually for TV's with built in Android TV, and not dedicated Android TV box. When they build app, the developer will add any required function/feature that they want that the OS support as long it follow Google's app quality standard to be released on Google Play Store
In this case, Android TV OS support number pad because it is based on AOSP but for apps it depends on the app developer(or decision maker) to add the key code to their app and the shitty Unifi TV UI has nothing to do with with it.
Refer here for list of keycode Android support: https://developer.android.com/reference/and...d/view/KeyEvent
It is now up to TM to provide better app and take advantage of what Android TV(Operator Tier) offer to them. Android TV is not perfect but there's is a lot can be done.
