My son will be turning 4 this April and he just started day care at a nearby kindergarten for the first time on Jan 2 onward. Thing is he has been crying every time when i drop him off at the center. I know this is normal but it has been going on for almost 3 weeks! Being a kid before myself, i know the feeling going to a place where there are lots of kids and teachers, first few days can be uncomfortable in new place but eventually we all adapted. My son just cries in the morning when i drop him off but after a while, he will be okay and join the other kids do stuff. When i pick him up at the end of the day, he seems normal. I asked if he wanted to go school tomorrow he said YES! Then the next sun rise came, and it was the same day again for me and my son. He will follow me to the daycare but eventually before stepping in he will say "i dont want to go school". I have encouraged him, telling him that is is alright to go school, there are other kids there as well, you learns things and bla bla bla. All the talk but still same thing. I even said if you go in and dont cry, i will get you new toy or what ever, but it didnt work.
Now what is the problem here? I believe it is all down to individual which is my son's personality which will take time. I have spoken to a few parents, some say it could be the teachers or kids there that made my son dont like to go. I do not think that is the case because he has been crying since day1 until now. He comes back happy but next day is a different world. It is sad seeing him crying every morning but it has to stop one day, just that i dont know when. I will still encourage him with all the positive thing about the kindergarten and hopefully it will stop sooner.
Want to ask parents out there how do you tackle this problem? I have heard someone kid cry for 2 months straight before it stopped which will be a nightmare for me every morning.
