This thread is a centeral repository for those of you unsure where to find drivers for devices. You may also post driver updates and question on how to troubleshoot driver problems or other "unknown devices".

these are some useful sites to look for drivers, try checking there first before posting here.

Where Do I Look?
1) manufacturer's website.
MSI motherboard? go to www.msi.com.tw
2) chipset manufacturer's website.
on a Nvidia Chipset? go to www.nvidia.com
3) www.driverguide.com

I Don't Know My Chipset/Device
if you don't know what the heck your chipset is, use this application to help you. Unkown Device Indentifier[/b]

user posted image

I) you can see that the chipset is Silicon Intergrated Systems a.k.a SIS. therefore you need to go to www.sis.com.

user posted image

II) next you notice that the chipset model is 7012. go to download/support and search for this chipset model. download the files and install. done.

In addition, ServiWin allows you to easily stop, start, restart, pause, and continue service or driver, change the startup type of service or driver (automatic, manual, disabled, boot or system), save the list of services and drivers to file, or view HTML report of installed services/drivers in your default browser.

My Drivers enables easy and fast detection, backup and restore of all hardware device drivers currently on your system. Also, you can even find the latest drivers for your hardware and install them onto your computer. With just one or two mouse button clicks, you will have all your hardware devices extracted and backed-up to any folder you want. When you reinstall or upgrade your system, you can restore all drivers by clicking a button. Once after a reboot, all the drivers will be re-installed and will function well. You may also choose to backup a particular driver or all the drivers with an EXE automatic installer. If you have a particular item of hardware that is troublesome, just remove the driver with this software. It is especially useful to those who have lost their Driver Disk or Driver CD. My Drivers is able to clone the original driver installation. It is also capable of serving those people to find and install the appropriate and latest drivers for their hardware devices. My Drivers identifies almost all hardware devices, reported information includes device model, device manufacturer, chip/chipset manufacturer, OEM name, OEM vender. Over 58,600 drivers information and manufacturers and venders information are embedded with the software. You may easily find a driver that will work for a certain device by PnP ID fingerprint comparison, and a compatibility test will be performed before installing a driver that will be downloaded from the Internet. It is optional to create a floppy disc with My Drivers included for further driver management and hardware detection when no drivers are installed on Windows system. If you have a CD-R or CD-RW recorder or another partition, you might backup the entire set of driver files there. My Drivers will also backup the Favorites in Internet Explorer and Proxy Settings and provides a backup for settings for Outlook and Outlook Express.

no because the OS platform is different. the manufacturer needs to write specific drivers for specific platforms.

1. can you point me to the manufacturer's website for this device?
2. have you checked there?
3. the only clue i get from a google search for this particular device are acer matches. is you I/R device built-in to your laptop mobo?
4. if so, have you contacted acer.

You could try here:
http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acerdrivers/...FTOKEN=27345591

Although your particular laptop model is not in the list maybe my similar experience could help. I once was looking for an Acer Travelmate 4152 card reader driver as well and used the Acer Travelmate 4150 driver from that website which worked. Hopefully this helps.

Hi,
Same card as my old computer is using tongue.gif

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_66.93.html

Try the link above as i am using that driver....... if it fails, go to the Windows XP/2000 Driver archive on the side and go to an older driver maybe 61.77

Good Luck smile.gif

This is the newest version of driver that the card can take im guessing..... because ive tried another version newer than this and it said it did not detect supported devices.

You could try installing newer drivers in the nvidia archive and see how it goes..... based on my experience it didnt work.

Hope this helped. smile.gif

Im not sure what is wrong but are Iam using the 32mb NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 and i can go up to 1024x768 resolution and 32 bit colour.

Do try going lower than 66.93 to maybe 61.77 or less to see if it solves the problem

-Or we can manually search for it using DriverAgent (http://listing.driveragent.com/).

-1st, open Device Manager, then double-click the target device. When Properties dialog box opened, go to Details tab. Take down the code from VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx. Here's an example :

user posted image

-In the example above, we take 10EC and 8139.

-Next, go to http://listing.driveragent.com/ and type 10EC 8139 in "Hardware Identifier" box & click Search. If the hardware is not too recent & commonly found, you'll sure get the details here, InsyaALLAH.

Regards.

EDIT: Auctually, we have to put full string (e.g. PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139). Sorry for any confusion arised. Thanks.
