how to know it's inspection chamber?

open up and see; inspection chamber is 1.5-2m deep

near the bottom u will see pipes slightly protruding from the walls; these r the wastage pipes from ur toilets, kitchen etc

bottom is 4 sloped sides with a pipe directly in the centre

and most importantly, it is relatively dry; IT SHUD NOT B FILLED UP WITH WATER

if u see water it means u got a clog oredi, RIP

Hey guys sorry to revive this 2019's thread.
Anyone has any idea how's such conversion cost for a double terrace house in klang valley now?
Any idea where can I find in-depth details about such conversion because I couldn't find anything about this anywhere.

Unless there’s new Pumpstation/STP development in your area, I don’t think IWK will be able to convert your septic tank to direct tapping to their sewer system.

Also, if it goes by the standard of new developments, that will mean 1% contribution fee of your house’s market price. In addition you need to bare the construction and piping costs up to the tapping point. I reckon you even need to pay for all those PDC submission fees and professional consultant fees.

TL;DR, I don’t think it will be cost feasible for old residential housings. You’re better off upgrading to bigger septic tank.
