IGCSE fees seems reasonable compared to IGCSE Centers paying RM 700-800/papers. shakehead.gif
And Each Children need to take atleast >5 subjects, already costs RM 5-8k for Examination Fees alone.... rclxub.gif

MRSM don't let parents to opt out for IGCSE for their children? hmm.gif
Also SPM is free, since paid by PIBG most of the time hmm.gif

No idea, always been offered for Examinations in Oct/Nov for IGCSE in Form 4.
Basically IGCSE = Form 4 + 5 syllabus with dumb down.

Shouldn't be that hard. Somemore got open marking scheme for students to blindly regurgitate answers to.

igcse if taken at british council or similar set up will cost about rm700 to 1000 per paper. if taken at some international schools which use igcse syllabus it is around rm450 per paper.

those MRSM with IGCSE also same fees of rm450 per paper due to government to government agreement.

so orang kita or not, anybody can actually go kawtim at any international schools to let your kid become exam candidate there. I know one parent who did that. her son taken igcse tuition from private teachers and then the mother kawtim with g***** international school to take exam there and she paid rm450 per paper.

not all mrsm have igcse. only around 11 or 14 out of all mrsm. fees are not sponsored by gomen. parents have to pay themselves. if cannot then they wont apply to mrsm with igcse.

my eldest also in one mrsm igcse, now form2. i have to pay for checkpoint exam this year (around 600) and when he in form 4, i will have to pay igcse fees as well. we also paid for his external modules/tuition during school breaks, around 700 to 1000 per week/module.

so far this is the tongkatness i utilized. asb not so much cost now no money paying kids schools. house discount didnt't get because my house is not a bumi lot. spm also i paid the fees coz my parents can pay. job also at private company. only my wife work with gomen and the only reason is that her specialty is in emergency and trauma which no private hospital willing to hire, not lucrative at all. otherwise sudah lama she run to private hospital.

i didn't even remember i took igcse paper or not when i was in mrsm jasin

RM3.4k is cheap anyway for 1-year of quality education

but surely these ppl know that mrsm and MARA institutions in general are quite lenient if you have difficulty paying fees or loans.. just tell the mrsm office or nearest mara branch office about your difficulties and they will aid you in the best way they can

PH  need to make reform now as promise. I wonder did PH mp read fb or not. Everyone are complaining and asking where is the reform? Like mrsm and boarding school PH promise will be reform to bring back rhe original objective to assist B40 children to have good education. But after win ge no reform being done as promise. Example like the fb post above. Still the place for M40 and above  kids. People are complaining in fb everyday but why you dont want to listen?

Read properly. That post said anak in form 4. IGCSE mrsm means their kid already in mrsm since form 1 since IGCSE mrsm has no form 4 intake. This year intake 70 percent are b40. So in this case, janji already di capati.

Can drop out after finish IGCSE paper in Form 4? When results release in December?
And Apply to College at the age of 17?

Whereas all your SPM counterparts need to wait until 18 to apply?

Exactly. I heard some parents send their kid to do engineering foundation at utp using IGCSE results. Don't take spm but have to pay fees sendiri. A colleague told me 20 of her daughter's friends did that.

AFAIK utp foundation requires spm BM or equivalent so may be they have to take BM SPM papers as private candidate. I know of one kid who took BM as second language IGCSE paper and scored highest in the world for it. (Apparently it's just tp3 level BM). This year IGCSE got BM as first language paper option.

My daughter is in IGCSE MRSM, just took her Check Point exam last year...now in Form 3. Those wonder what is this MRSM is actually.... this MRSM took a little bit different approach in learning where most subject are taught in English. They have 2 exams came from Cambridge.... one in Form 2 called Check Point & another one in Form 4.

Yes it is expensive considering the papers are from Cambridge and the total payment are not fixed depending on the currency exchange that time. Many parents, they dont have enough infos on this....they just think they are proud if childern are selected to study here..... without knowing the way the education is delivered & amount of fees.

My experience, those children with just passed their UPSR "ngam2 atas pagar" especially english & math, they will struggle here.....

Some of my friend just use trial spm. But they will still check the actual result later on. Advantage is they can start early.

Correction. There's also Technical MRSM where the students studies the basics of engineering. Currently there's only MRSM Bentong where my son was the 1st intake in 2016.

That's right. I have a son (Form 3 MRSM IGCSE). Parent should know the financial consequences enrolling their kid there. Else don't.

Exactly. My eldest took his IGCSE 2 years ago (private), didn't take SPM. Now He's in IIUM Engineering degree programme. Nearly a year ahead of 19 years old with SPM pathway.

Now, my daughter's turn for her IGCSE too. 16 years old.

You can choose what subject you want to take to fulfill uni entry requirement. No need to take all like SPM. From 4 already done IGCSE, at 17, already in uni doing foundation programme / A-Level.

if your kids want to become engineers etc (jobs which doesnt require compulsory government services like doctor, dentist or pharmacist) can take this route. select 4 core subjects for igcse, then add 1 more igcse bm paper. enough already.

if needed, for gomen's scholarships or want to work in ipta etc can just take july spm paper for bm and sejarah.

Fun fact in Brunei their IGCSE and O Level, until A Level are subsidized fee from their MOE. not sure got quota contract or what. Heard examinations are free there laugh.gif except private candidate's who resits.

If only we can abolish Lembaga Peperiksaan and MPM without people calling protect. We can still make our own syllabus with Cambridge Assessment like Singapore

This guy says he's from M40 group. Median income for M40 is RM 6,275 per month.

He needs to pay RM 3,401 for a year school fee or about RM 280 per month.

Now tell me, if his children is in normal school, I'm sure the cost of daily transportation, food, normal school fees and all the tuition will easily be equal or more than RM 280 per month.

You earn minimum RM 6,275 yet you are stingy for your child education and living allowances of RM 280.

And saying that you are sorry for the B40? Come on, you think MARA is stupid? The B40 kids will be receive RM2,850 yearly MRSM scholarship under Skim Budi MARA. Google it. And yes, they deserve it since they are mostly anak Orang Asli and Kampung Kids who does not have the luxuries that your kids have (e.g. wifi).

Shame on you Maznihan Yusof. For once, be responsible for your child education. It is your duty. Remember that you are M40. Have an M40 mindset.

if you carefully read maznihan's post, he only said felt sesak a bit. he didn't complaint about paying for his child. he only said how those b40 can afford to pay igcse fees. why you want to bash him. besides, his concern is genuine.

when my son enrolled there, i was told that mara will only help pay igcse fees for those with household income below 2k. do note that average b40 threshold is around 3.5k. donno if mara now change the criteria for igcse fees.

i also heard that many didn't score well in their igcse compared to their spm. those who did score well for igcse mostly from families who can afford extra tuitions during school breaks. this also become the basis for mara's plan (again rumors) to reduce the number of igcse rmsm to only 3.

i'd be glad to pay extra to prepare my child for igcse. I'd love to swap with maznihan and pay the fees without any fuss.

but my child is now only standard 1..long way to go before form 1 laugh.gif

now very hard to get into mrsm. placement per year is like 7000 spot against 70k applicants. by the time your son reach form 1 lagi payah. better dont give him hopes for mrsm. prepare him for normal school.

before since i dont know whether my son can get into mrsm, i went to PPD apply for top school in my district.

donno what happened before, i even heard some parent came to visit their kid using helicopter.

despite saying that, there are advantages of rich kids join mrsm. these type of parents can sponsor things like coway filter for the whole school, sponsor uniforms for needy kids etc. i know one mrsm got one parent pay for coway filters rental for about 3k per month.

those rich kids also when they when to school with other normal b40 and m40 kids hopefully grow up not being an asshole. normal kids also can network with them so for the future can have better networks.

now they said 70% intake b40 while the rest for m40 and t20. should be ok la kot.

if all students at mrsm b40 when school asked parents for extra funding also difficult.

paling kesian actually m40. b40 can got brim la apa la, t20 already rick fags, m40 apa pun tak dapat.. puii.
