Hi!

I'm starting up this forum as recently Amazon has allowed Malaysians to apply in the Amazon FBA Seller account.

If you have just jump in the bandwagon or a season seller, please give us your thoughts, comments, success stories and frustration. We hope to create a great seller community so that we may share our mistakes in order not to repeat it while helping others in the process.

I am personally an individual seller and still a beginner. Hoping to learn from others and have a free lifestyle and let go all the frustration associated with 9 to 5 work.

Here's a general idea of what Amazon FBA is all about:

Most sellers ship from Alibaba to Amazon warehouse. Of course the shipping fees are rather steep.

I will be attending a course soon and sending my first product soon. Hope all turns out well.

In terms of e-marketplace platforms, I'm selling in Shopee, Lazada & 11Street. Kinda abandoned 11Street already & contemplating to abandon Lazada too due to their endless technical issues. Surprisingly Shopee is solid & doing well.

No experience with Amazon unfortunately, but would like to hear your experience on it for future consideration.

The Amazon marketplace is huge and caters about 40% of online business which is insane. Opportunity is there and despite saturated product offering, it's still a very good place to sell.

Are you currently selling in any of our local e-marketplace?

If all of our orders need to be posted to Amazon's warehouse, where's the nearest warehouse to us?
*
I am selling locally on eBay and mudah only at the moment. I've just registered my individual account and finalizing my 1st product before shipping.

Amazon will only determine the warehouse after the listing of the product.

Normally where can get stock if want to sell online ya?
*
Products are easily source from Alieexpress, Taobao & Alibaba. It's quite common to buy from China and sell it over on the US market.

I forgot to add one more very important.

PRODUCT RESEARCH- this is very very important in finding products to sell and it will take a very long time to do it.

Almost all sellers will say that Product Research is the most tedius part.

WATCH ALOT OF YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON AMAZON FBA- watch atleast 2-3 videos daily before jumping into Amazon Fba.

In my case, it took me about 5 months before i send in my first shipment of good...yes that long. Product Research maa...

Cheers !

Great! I'm also planning to get a full version of a research tool. Which one do you recommend? Jungle scout/Amazeowl/Helium10?

When i started i didnt use JS or Helium10, i use Amazon only and do my own research.

This tools just give you estimate its not really accurate. If you want to use, you can use Unicorn Smasher, its free.

But i am hearing good things about Helium10, maybe i will use it for later.

Remember, your first shipment to Amazon is trial and error. This is something you will learn after you started and have to experience it by executing

Unicorn smasher stats are really off substantially if I'm not mistaken.

I started with only rm250. But i used to work and study in the uk. So i had quite a good opportunity and time to understand and post the items myself. About 1 year into selling, i started to move into FBA and since then it took off quite easily. I do have my full time job now, but amazon is like a side business. Giving me about 2-5k rm per month. smile.gif)

Any issues of getting the Amazon buy box when first starting off? I heard sometimes it could be difficult.

most of the products are available online, you dont need the actual samples.

You can even get it from the supplier, the China agent will email you the supplier photos.

But i rather find the product photos online, copy it and get someone from fiverr to enhance and optimise the photos so that it looks WOW !
Photos are very very important to catch the customer and close the deal.

Bad photos - No sales

Good photos - Good sales.

Some sellers willing to spends hundreds of dollars on photo shoot and etc. It gives your product the killer edge over others.

Impressive to see your contributions here. I'm still sourcing my product niche now. Just curious is it necessary to have PPC campaign or Facebook Ads. I heard some were even using many chat. I foresee it could be a challenge.

What about gaining the buy box button? Will beginners be struggling? I'm a designer and I kinda researching a lot of products and finally found my niche. Will try to get my product up and running soonest possible.

For newbies here, the following are some of the good AMAZON FBA YOUTUBE channels to follow:

Just search this guys' channels out:

Wholesale Ted
KT Nine
Crescent Kao

Thanks for the list i also watch wholesaleted.also have attended the live seminar about buybox organize by sara. What i understand, the buy box is for branded item. Example if there are 5  sellers selling exactly the same adidas watch, the buy box will include the name of the seller in buy box equally rotation basis. So basically if total of user search/click of that adidas watch(eg. 1000 user view the adidas watch in a month), 20% of the buy box will show your name. That means the "potential" buyer that will buy from you 20% x 1000 = 200buyer..
*
Thanks! But can we assume that a private label will have exclusivity for the buy box to be shown?

I believe you can buy the 20kg Box from Fedex .

Bear in mind, shipping from Malaysia to USA is expensive, its cheaper to ship from China to Amazon US.

I paid us6/kg by air, within 7 days, received by Amazon centre.
*
It's funny that most supplier on Alibaba quoted very high cost almost as high as Malaysia air shipment via DDP. I wonder why. Maybe you have more experience.

That will be called FBM and typically it can be tricky unless you have secure an agency for distribution. Otherwise any delivery stuck by supplier will be your responsibility.

Amazon can do the dropshipping thingy? We list product for sale, received customer order, link to aliexpress send directly to customer address.

You need to get supplier to give you all the alternative shipping available. Bare in mind some shipping methods may need your full commitment and understanding in doing so.

This is to ensure no costly shipping occurs which may affect your margins down the line.

You have to ensure that all the details are identical across all documents you send. Otherwise, Amazon will not approve.

Learn more about Amazon FBA from sellers on YouTube and find out more about the business as this is not eBay nor it's lelong.com. It's a business and you need to know the ropes before you dive in.

Ask yourself is it suitable for you after you get to know the ins and outs of the business before you spend the money on a premium course as most basic and advanced tutorials are already available online.

Setup is pretty straight forward as anyone can do without guidance. Secondly, the bulk of Amazon FBA is about research which require us to buy tools like jungle scout, etc. My suggestion is try out the trial version of each type of tools before you decide to splash your hard earned money.

In many cases, these tools are to assist, the real truth is how good is your product and sales volune which will determine whether you win or lose.

QUOTE(andy99ipoh @ Mar 6 2019, 09:21 AM)
Agreed! I spent a few thousand just for the course and mana tau he is a conman. At the end, still have to rely on myself. I found myself stupid spending all this unnecessary penny just for a simple setup. And all the tutorials/articles/helps are easily available out there.

As the support is not forever, it's prudent to have your own gut feel and tons of research.

Get someone who has use the same agents which are tested reliable before using them. Some are interested in money more than anything. Once you ship it out, things may get hairy at times.

the fee is rm3k. Includes support fee

Thanks Sifu. Fair for a fee. Let’s me watch some more FBA video for general knowledge before anything.

By the way, can we use your trusted China shipping agent? Or, this is part of the RM3k fee?

Thanks again.
