Is it worth to buy a 2nd hand Honda Accord/Teana and do Grabcar Premium? Can make net (after petrol and Grab 25% commission) RM300 per day in KL - work 10 hours..? I do normal Grab in KL part time once in a few months.
Feel like fedup of my office job..pay is good and it is professional engineer job manager..but feel so stress everyday at work..hate the rat race..but do Grab full time:
1. Society do not respect.
2. Car will damage and maintenance cost is so high
3. Dangerous job as high risk for accident. If car masuk workshop, no salary
4. No career progression
5. No EPF
6. Not good for health

I need to make net at least RM6.5k a month from Grab...

Guys, later when we have to register and apply PSV, puspakom inspection, commercial insurance and all, our operating costs is gonna shoot up so much..most likely have to declare income and pay income tax also. They levelling playing field with taxi drivers, but I feel GRAB fares are too low...Taxis don't pay income tax, and charge RM1.95 per km,,whereas GRAB's fee is about RM1 per km..it is so unfair. I feel GRAB's market share is so strong, they should increase their fares by 50% also, people will still use,,no difference...not fair to us drivers.

It is not a level field . Taxi fellas are doing full time. Many Grabbers are just doing part time.  hmm.gif

Then the Govt should not regulate e-hailing drivers like taxis. Can u imagine, need to apply PSV, commercial insurance, puspakom..i tell u only the full timers will do those...70% of part timers may just quit Grab..too much hassle.
Also, I heard we may need to put a GRAB sticker on our car to show that we are e-hailing driver..really become like taxis...

Do you think full timer doing grab 8 hours a day in KL can earn nett RM5.5k a month? Minus petrol, maintenance, Grab commission. Using MyvI

Dear All,

It is so sad to hear rumours that Grab Drivers will have so many rules to follow come July 12. We can accept PSV, Puspakom, but converting car grant from Private to Commercial is ridiculous and having to pay Commercial Car insurance premium of RM3000 a year?

If this truly happens, I believe 70% of GRAB drivers will have no choice to quit, especially part-timers. Gone is the extra income to put meals on their table for themselves and family. Also, only full-time GRAB drivers will be motivated to go through all the troubles to get registered etc.

If 70% of Grab drivers quit, the following will happen:
1. Lack of drivers will cause fares to surge, prices will be too high, people will end up taking taxis who might go back to their usual ways of simply whacking price and cheating people
2. With such low amount of drivers, GRAB and other e-hailing companies may just tutup kedai/leave Malaysian market.
3. Many people become jobless.
4. We go back to the stone age with rogue taxi drivers back as the only choice to get around.

I really hope MOT and Minister will think properly and not overly regulate e-hailing to the point of making it same as driving a taxi. Imposing uniform all is ridiculous. If it aint broken, dont fix it.

I can accept PSV, Puspakom Inspection, and the normal insurance + e-hailing rider. Not converting car to commercial car and all. All these will increase revenue for Gov, but in the long term really cause problems to the people. It makes it not worthwhile to make this conversion for our personal cars as it will totally reduce the market value.

Maybe end up we will have to rent from GRAB a car at RM50 a day just like taxis. Ridiculous. We are regressing back to stone age. I don't know why MOT have to give in to taxis demand. 90% of Malaysians prefer to use GRAB. Also if all is level playing field, the fares for GRAB should be made equal as taxis. The current ikan bilis fare for GRAB is totally not worth it, especially if drivers have to fork out so much to register.

Also, Gov plans to introduce limited subsidy of petrol for cars at 1.5cc and below. Grab drivers will suffer as the quota for subsidised petrol is only like 100 liters a month. Those doing Grab full time will have to bear higher petrol costs once the 100 liters quota exceed. If do full time, will exceed in like 4-5 days.

Let's hope saner minds prevails.

Regards,
Jason

Dear All,

After 12th July 2019, GRAB will be officially regulated (end of moratorium). Meaning all drivers must get PSV license, PUSPAKOM inspection, additiona e-hailing rider to insurance coverage, different type of road tax with AH in front, SOCSO contribution mandatory.

I see it as a huge huge pain in the arse. The govt should just let the industry be and not cave in to the demand of taxi drivers who are 90% behave like gangster with their shitty maintained cars.

Anyhow, these regulations will make it SOOO Cumbersome for so many of us. It's already ending of March 2019 and nothing can be done yet, so I expect there will be a bottleneck as drivers rush to get legalised before 12th July 2019.

Also, the additional costs are very significant. GRAB MUST increase their fares and make it worth our time. No more bilis RM5 fare. Minimum fare should be RM8. Also maximum commission set by govt is 20%. I am confident that GRAB will have to increase their fare to cover this shortfall as no more 25% commission and now since they are legalised, surely they have to pay income tax. So their profit will be affected.

My hope is that they stop charging such low prices and at least be on par with taxi fare. Level playing field what.

With this move to regulate, I reckon 70% of part-timers will quit and only the full-timers will have no choice but to go on. THis will cause a sharp drop in drivers. GRAB may even just pull out of Malaysian market with all these kinda regulations..if this happens I wont be surprised.

My hope is that with all the trouble we have to go through to get legalised, they bloody better increase the fare significantly, like 50% increment. I've seen Uber fare in Hong Kong and all..it's expensive, even more expensive than taxis.

Malaysians are very forgiving. Increase price, they will complain few weeks, later they will still use GRAB. GRAB should just increase the price. Worst case same price as taxi, ppl will still take GRAB, coz better car and driver.

Peace and Love. Lets hope our rice bowl not affected.

I have been doing Crab parttime in KL since 8 May 2020 during this CMCO ...hardly any demand during the day..one day i waited 2 hours in ara dsara, midvalley and bukit bintang and not even 1 ping ! Now i just do in the evening to tap into the after work rush hour crowd. Still quite bad..not like before...many times need to wait 30 to 45 mins for a ping. Roughly I do 4.5 hours, nett income is RM70 after minus petrol and commission. Quite bad. Only good thing is petrol is cheap now. Also there are too many pitiful RM5 rides. Somemore the riders will ask to go inside Tesco..go inside their condo etc ..like doing charity for them for a pitiful RM3 net income. Also sometimes I need to take 3 passengers..some never wear mask. I scared to refuse them cos I need to wait 45 mins to get a ride. So I am desperate. Crab is afraid of Mycar ..thats why got RM5 fare..those days I remember mostly RM6 at the lowest. Cost is living is shooting up everywhere..even my mixed rice chap fan take 2 items (in KL) 1 meat and 1 veggie is RM7. But Crab fares only seem to be very cheap. Crab needs to increase their fares to be fair to us drivers..and not be afraid of Mycar..Mycar's market share and appeal is too small. P/S: I have doing Uber and Crab since 2017 but stopped once all the regulations came in..just managed to get EVP and PSV b4 the MCO.

Also bear in mind, now we need to spend so much to be regulated like taxi puspakom..psv..fire extinguisher..insurance..really ridiculous and yet fares and earning per hour are now lower than b4 the regulations in place . I think there are too many Crab drivers too now. Demand less than supply. I hope after CMCO is over, things will be better and can go back to net income of RM20 per hour on average. But i think after this MCO, more ppl will be unemployed..so there will be even more Crab drivers..huhu

i been doing Crab in KL during this CMCO. I noticed the fares are exceptionally low !! So many RM5 fares, and TBB is low or not given even during MP hours. I understand that now no surge fares is it because no traffic jam? Demand is also so poor..have to wait sometimes 45mins to 1 hour just for 1 miserable RM8 ping. I expect after this more ppl lose their jobs and more Crab drivers on the road. Srsly Crab needs to increase the fare. We are in year 2020, everything is expensive and increasing in price except Crab fare.,.are they scared of MyCar>? MyCar is nowhere close in terms of competition. End up driver lose out. Thankfully petrol is cheap now..if not..gone case.

On peak hour like 5-7pm, i can get averagely RM15 nett per hour, of course earning is higher if the restaurant is faster in food preparation. It is much better than waiting for GC job.

On the other side, parking fee can be claimed provided u submitted via email to grab, they will reimburse back to your credit account.

I see..thanks for the info on parking reimbursement

Yea true,,,people are sitting put at homes, not going out as much. No tourists, no airport jobs, low fares, all this is a recipe for disaster for Crab drivers, especially full time. Last Saturday, I drove Crabcar (only crabcar), from 11am to 9.15pm, (10 hours++) (non-stop almost, at most 30 mins break in between), my clean profit after minus petrol and commission is only RM175, that too including RM6 tips. The only saving grace is petrol is cheap, but the price is creeping back up each week.
I am reluctant to do Crabfood because I heard the fee is RM8 only before commission and need to go take the food and all from the shop, especially those inside malls, then go inside condo, wait for the customer take the food all is PURE EXPLOITATION of Crabcar drivers...this kinda job is suited for motorbike,,not car.

RM8-9 depending on distance, if further maybe RM10 or more. Why not suitable for car? I've been doing it since MCO period, but now the trouble might be parking problem. 3 hrs from 6-9pm i can get about RM60, i think it is better than relying on GC alone.

Is it that sometime we need to pick up food for a few customers from different place and then begin delivering? How do you store the food in the car?

Basket? Food storage box?

Certain shopping mall like One Utama and Midvalley will definitely slower as there is designated pick up place, u need to wait for the restaurant staff to deliver until the designated place. For my experience, the most i get is 4 jobs in single time with 3 different outlet. Most of the time were single/double jobs in one time.

During MCO time i went into pyramid and it was stuffy and sweating like hell because the mall doesn't turn on their air-conditioner.

better to remove the tint from front windscreen and driver / front passenger side.. As even without tint the vlt will read around 70% plus minus..i removed and the vlt was around 74 smthing..the ori glass already got colouring so it will never read as 100% vlt even if did not tint.
*
Yea..i changed my windscreen just for the puspakom test. Even without any tint..the VLT is 75%...so if u put any kind of tint..even the 70% VLT tint..it will cause the overall VLT to be less than 70%...too risky.,.,
