anyway, i want to ask sifu2 sekalian here ya.. apologies in advance for the long post..

i got a friend he do grab. he told me he one day earns about 300~400.. On good days can earn up to 400, on not so good days he earn say 280++..

So lets say average he earn per day is 300 la.. He drive 5 weeks a day. He quit his normal job to do grab full time. Currently he is driving or working i should say about same amount of hours as he was working in office before this.. Monday-Friday, driving time is different he say he do morning till noon, then take break and continue evening till night time.. but estimate he work around 10 hours per day..

So based on that 300x5= 1500/week so 6k per month he earns. after minus grab commission he get 4.8k.. He told me his car loan is fully paid, so he only pays for petrol and maintenance every now and then.. I not sure he use how much petrol a month but i guess around 800 can cover for petrol? or lets say 1k for petrol..

So my question is, therefore he earns 3.8k per month nett.. I think that is quite decent no? About the same or even higher salary than fresh grads.. He told me if he wants more money that week/month he work on saturday/sunday or work longer as well..

My question is just this because from my POV it seems this grab job for him is quite sustainable.. For more clarifications: He is living with family and he has a gf so he does spend on dating and stuff.. So i want your thoughts on this since you guys are more experienced than me.

I wanna ask for those sifu2 here who are doing e-hailing full time, every month at least 6000++km clocked on car mileage..
Do you all still service in service centers for your car to keep the warranty intact?

Im a bit lost on this now.. Im starting grab full time soon with a 1 year old myvi..
My car current mileage only 7k km, consider very low la. and warranty left 4 years out of 5..

Things will change soon once i start doing grab.. My target i set for myself is minimum 6k and if can hopefully 8k gross per month..
Meaning if lets say 1km = 1 ringgit doing grab, means for my goal of 8k gross per month, my car mileage every month is about 8k km too..

I would need to service my car every 10k km which would be about every 1 month and 1 week need to service the car at my rate..

So my question is, for people who are working like me. do you all service your car in service centers or you all just send outside workshop to service already?
The warranty period is 5 years or 150k km whichever comes first.. Since at this rate, the mileage increase very2 fast. I estimate at my rate of 8k km per month, it will take around 1 year and 6 months to reach the 150k km mark and my car warranty will be gone then..

Therefore, is it worth it to still send the car for servicing at service centers and pay higher price to service the car, or should i just send it to outside workshop to change engine oil/oil filter since its much2 cheaper outside to do it..

and also if you are sending it to service at service center, do you follow the servicing items accordingly to the interval in the service book (like for example at certain KM change spark plugs, brake fluid, gearbox fluid, etcetc) or do you just ask them to do basic servicing only (engine oil/oil filter). Only add on the other stuffs as per necessary, i.e when you notice car hard to start then only you proceed to change spark plugs for example..

Right now im thinking of these 3 scenarios and idk which should i do..

1) Service accordingly to the service booklet to keep car warranty undoubtedly intact, when 1 year and 6 months or when i reach 150k km and warranty is over for the car then only i start to send it to outside workshops to do servicing..

2) Service at official service centers, but do basic servicing only (engine oil/oil filter). Only when required i do additional servicing, depending on what they say/advise and the necessity of it. Example if its not urgent i can delay it. if spark plugs still in good condition i dont change it.. that kind..

3) Straight just send outside workshop service engine oil and oil filter only and save lots of cash.. Pray and hope the myvi is a reliable car and no major problems cause warranty will be voided.. Since engine oil and oil filter is the most important, the others are more of "precautionary", so any problems then only proceed to do the required maintenance for it..

Indeed. What rjmsfire said echoes what my friend who i mentioned in earlier post shared to me..

Hes happy with doing grab so far.. for him, driving is relaxing compared to office job where you need to meet your kpis or youll get screwed by boss. Have deadlines to meet, play office politics with colleagues who aspire to climb corporate ladder, backstabbing, etc etc.. While only problem faced driving grab is cb customers (which he said are getting lesser nowadays), but he put on a smiley mask when dealing with problematic people.. he said earlier when things were uncertain because of the unknown ehailing regulations coming in and harassment from taxi drivers keep asking gov to make ehailing drivers life hard that time was quite worrying but now after everything settled down its better..

Then everyday need stress this and that, habis kerja balik rumah pun kena think about kerja the next day.. he now when offline, balik rumah enjoy no need think about anything. Can even go outings with gf..

For him the work hours are about same. He told me office job he work 9 hours (1hr lunch). But to get to office takes almost an hour, same thing when finish work wanna come home another hour in traffic. So total from the moment he wakes up till he reaches home he said he spends about 12 hours outside.. when do grab, he shower on grab app got job come in only terus leave the house. So thats when he starts work. Drive 10-12 hours later, work ends when he reach home.. so he said the amount of time spent outside is about same for office job or driving grab no difference..

On the other hand i get other drivers lament also, driving grab no benefits. No epf, annual leave or medical leave, medical coverage, no public holiday, high wear and tear to car and other stuffs..

Driving school faster

Apply 6 hours class course

Then exam date few weeks set by JPJ schedule and by 1 day should get result

Go JPJ do PSV within 20 mins if the queue is short

EVP is by ehailing so that one out of your control

Janji got PSV first can go on driving immediately
*
From what i was told in my training by grab..

EPV takes around 2 to 4 weeks to be approved once you have everything ready and submitted in for epv application (psv license, medical checkup, ehailing insurance, puspakom if >3 years car)

and if you're new driver like me, you cant even log in to the grab driver app. our accounts are not active on the server yet. and can only start to log in once we have our EPV. so impossible to start driving with just PSV license for us..

anyway, grab psv course 8 hours >> 1 week later sit for exam(my exam on this tuesday) >> exam results out within 3 days >> if pass dy go JPJ do the license..
thats if you do psv under grab la..

not sure about driving school's availability, but for grab i notice usually the earliest available class date will be around 2 weeks from the day you sign up for the psv training..

Thanks. Gotten PSV dy. Just want to know the EVP processing time. Anyway thank you.
Thank you for the reply. 2-4 weeks is quite a wait. The thing is I can't even do Puspakom now coz Puspakom said they need EVP first before can do check up. This new rule started in November according to them. So confusing. Anyway, thanks.
*
Huh.. When i sit for class they say need do puspakom before EVP wor..

EVP is basically the final STEP before you can start driving..

You already went puspakom and they told you that? Like that you better clarify again with Grab and ask how..

Anyway just done sit for PSV exam.. quite easy la..
I didnt really study at all. I just rmb what they teach during the 6 hour class..

If you not sure how to answer, just use common sense and pick answer that is relatable to driving/teksi/e-hailing, and enforcement stuffs..

Now just wait 3 days for result to come out then can go make PSV license.

2 - 4 week is bullshit.

Mine 2 month already still no evp.

Keep calling cs they said will look on this matter and guess what nothing happen.

I called the department that do the evp apad and they said they dont have my data from grab. Called grab they said already at apad need approval.

Soo... Yeaa. Tat sum it all.
*
hmm really terukz ah..

i got one friend he say he sit for psv exam until now his result not published... already like 1 month+

i got another friend also, iirc something to do with submitting documents online.. he submit dy many2 times, but doesnt show up in the system.. banyak kali keep calling the customer service, bill telefon pun tinggi..

guess they got certain cases like this that affect few/many people..

then one personal experience, during my PSV training class that day, we supposed to get a link to register for psv exam date that is given to us only after the class, but got 1 person he got the link and made exam booking prior to even going for the class. the link was sent to him by GRAB customer service themselves, which was an error on their part and shouldnt be sent to people.. luckily that time got Grab staffs with us so he able to get clarification and rectify it on the spot.

If not habis he didnt successfully register for psv exam sweat.gif sweat.gif

Hi folks..
My car insurance is tune protect, it's not in the list of Grab Daily e-hailing insurance.
Tune protect also doesn't offer annual e-hailing insurance. Instead of terminating my insurance, can I purchase an annual e-hailing insurance from etiqa and can it work together with my existing tune protect insurance?
*
cannot can only have 1 insurance provider..
so you need to change your insurance provider..
like for me im under great eastern but not in grab panel, fortunately great eastern provided yearly annual e-hailing so i can just apply for that..

Hello, is it possible to drive for Grab with a car that exceeds 10 years old? I heard it is possible if I pass the Puspakom test.
*
if cars >10 years old, you can pass puspakom for purposes of e-hailing..

but grab themself wont accept >9 years old car.. iirc, they said their limit for accepting car registration period now is 2011.. below 2011 they reject.

you gotta clarify with Grab not us..

TQ for your compliments. It has had been decades since I last took A to E exam. Other exams I take regularly......Physical medical exam from blood test to blood pressure and glycemic to cholesterol indexes. Usually pass when I take care of my diet, wash my cars and walk my doggies siang malam.  cool2.gif

Glad I passed with flying ....oops driving colors with fluke shot.  Expected to be flunked as I open the grab training app and it made me doze off.  Sumore in Bahasa .  The last time I read Utusan was ......apanama sudah lupa samada lapan puluhan atau sembiilan puluhan.  Guess MY bahasa dan budi still as good as it gets. Can still cook up the right answers in the PSV rojak pot of question..  whistling.gif

So I got to go to Grab office? What are in the folder?  confused.gif

just a checklist of things that you need for the psv license..

where did you do your psv training and exam? if under grab the process is easy, they will give you the 6hour training cert when you sit for the psv exam.. then after 3 days check online result.. when check online pass, terus go to JPJ with all the documents 1) medical cert 2) psv training cert 6 hours 3) photostat IC 4) driving license picture white background.. and RM20/30..

its that simple and easy. and also very fast. not sure how if those under driving schools..

Mine i sit for psv exam, the very next day (in the afternoon) my psv online results show LULUS ady but it doesnt show what marks i get.. then in the evening i terus go JPJ do my psv license.. So i sit for PSV exam, then the next day i get my PSV license ady lol.. im also surprised i did it so fast.. now im going to setel my e-hailing insurance then apply for EPV jor.

i go JPJ in selangor.. the queue to make PSV license very fast only (around 15 mins total from get number queue up to making PSV license)..
then they keep the medical cert and psv training certs all.. they only give u back the psv license..

Which clinic offers the cheapest medical test in pj and kl? Looking for below RM50. I plan to sit the course in a driving school. How much does the medical test cost in GDC? Can I use the GDC medical test and sit for the course in a driving school? Any suggestion for clinics with low fee? Never driven grab before, newbie.
*
do medical checkup for free with grab. you can do your psv license outside if you wish. but i suggest do under grab easier.. and i think cheaper? driving school charges rm150+ right?
grab charges rm80 for the whole psv thing which includes:
1) psv course 6 hours - easy course, instructors are grab employees and they are friendly/helpful enough.. so you can ask questions if not sure..
2) lunch (1 packet fried rice)
3) psv exam fees rm10..

side-note: i suggest you take motor come or ask some1 fetch you there and back.. cause parking is a bomb. i paid RM24 for parking for 9 and 1/2 hours on the day of my psv training.. macibai.

I got my psv license. I submit my info to get grab EVP on last Thursday 28/12/2019. The grab office ask me to wait for 5 working days. It seems like even wait for 5 days also dont have any update from Grab office on the EVP. I heard some driver say receive their EVP two weeks after update the information and some wait upto 4-5 months. Can I know anyway to speed up the process? Need to confirm with grab they submit my info to APAD and visit APAD HQ to speed us my EVP process?
*
you submit online or at GDC?

Need to download results slip from jpjwebsite or just straight go to jpj?

if you do through grab, i believe you will get the documents folder + checklist when you sat for your exam..

if you have everything required in the checklist, and passed psv exam (check results online) then you can head straight to JPJ to get your psv license.. prepare rm30..

Actually this warranty thingy the SC not too hardcore on it feel.. Idk about other car manufacturers lah..

I have an Iriz that is doing grab, i ask proton SC they say warranty ok as long as you service within the period aka 6months or 10k km.. dont exceed and dont skip parts is the most important factor for them when it comes to any warranty issues..

I would assume for Perodua since they got partner up with Grab since Grab buys bezzas from them, Perodua themselves have some way on handling the warranty right.. Instead of a hard-fast rule that if you do e-hailing = 100% void warranty..

The best is to just ask your SC representative i guess.. So far from my experience from asking them, they said not an issue. But dont take my word for it, this is just 1 SC i asked.. yours may be different, so do go ahead and ask and share back what they say. It can be useful knowledge/info for the rest of us here as well..

As for the proper black & white T&C, yes they may state if used for taxi they reserve the right to "void" your warranty, and if they chose to exercise that right theres really nothing we can do to "defend" ourselves.. but like I said, from my personal experience most warranty claims i ever had to go through there's always an element of leeway that they are/were willing to exercise.. So maybe if you carried yourself in an impressionable manner, they might even close 1 eye on it...

Just my 2 cents.

Anecdotally, if you drive cars that are known to be reliable or dont have much problems, e.g axia, bezza, myvi, saga, iriz, persona.. you should be on the safe side as well even if they really "voided" your warranty.. Since those cars above i mentioned really rarely have any major issues. Many older ones have even gone past 200k+ km mileage and still going strong and you rarely hear news about them having major (engine, gearbox) issues..

If they have keen eye, they can just check your roadtax sticker on your front dashboard mirror see got AB or AH code.
*
doesnt work that way right..

most people who apply EPV before this their road tax is currently under AB.. since the process to apply for EPV requires you to have a valid road tax itself..

maybe next year when people start to renew roadtax then only the new roadtax will have the AH code?

anyone here got AH code on their road tax ah?

mine i renew my roadtax last week still AB code..

guys, want to ask for this situation

if i passed a toll to pick up a customer, that toll is charged to the customer later when dropping him off or the customer need not pay the toll (meaning its on us)?

and also, if the passenger refuses to use toll road, what should we as drivers do?
do we set waze to avoid toll roads, or still continue using toll road?

thanks in advance for helping a newbie out
