Cant, to legally drive the car you must be insured, basically you can insure a car against multiple names.
So car 1, 2, 3 and so on can have both owners in terms of insurance. What you do is you specify 1 owner, and the rest you specify as co owner/driver, basically you are just insuring the car to be driven by someone else. But the owner of the car must be insured, otherwise he cannot drive the car.

So to answer the question no you cant, but you will find it problematic when you try to get it insured as you would be insuring yourself as the co owner/driver but to do that the car would need an owner insured first.

Thanks for the reply.

So, if change the owners of car1 & car2, which includes the insurance. Then sell car2 for new car, will this means new car can get NCD from onwer car2?

NCD is attach to the owner. Not the car. NCD somewhat like a good driver TQ cert. So unless new owner have 2 NCD accounts. If you only have 1, You can only transfer old NCD 55% to new car... Old car start from 0% or

Get the same owners to buy the new car to utilize the NCD.
No point change owners unless your insurance is cheap.

Yes, you can change ownership to get NCD from Car 2 for your new car but troublesome. To change ownership you need to send the car for Puspakom inspection. Any tinting which doesn't comply must remove. Then the road tax and insurance will be cancelled and need to buy again under new owner's name.

It is better to buy your new car under Owner B's name to enjoy the NCB from car 2. I presume B is your spouse so for loan purpose you can be the guarantor so the bank consider the combined income instead of only B's income. This is applicable only for husband-wife and parent-child relationship.

U cant transfer NCD...the only option is put your name at the new car ie. u are the owner.
So the new car will have the NCD but existing car will have to start from 0 again

What happens if I have a new car?
A No-Claim Discount can be transferred to another car as the NCD applies to you, and not to the vehicle. The NCD is attached to your name, so even if you sell your car and get a new one, you can easily transfer your NCD. Keep in mind that you cannot transfer your NCD to another person.

If you have more than one car, you cannot apply the same No-claim discount on more than one car. If you have accumulated a 38.33% NCD on your first car and you just recently bought a second car, you cannot use the NCD at the same time. You will have to start from scratch and earn the NCD for each vehicle individually.

As said above, NCD is attached to the name not the car. What you can do is either:
a)Buy new car under B's name.
or, slightly more work:
b)Transfer car A to B's name, then A buy new car, carry over NCD to respective cars.

Actually i have to make a correction. Transferring ownership of car 2 to you won't transfer owner B's NCD to you as the NCD follows the driver, not the car.

A better way is to transfer your NCD for car 1 to your new car and start NCD for car 1 at 0%.

Hi all, I'm going to change my car number and I have successfully bidded my number from JPJ eBid.

Here's the situation:
1. The car I've been driving is under my mom's name (owner).
2. I want to replace the current vehicle plate number with a new vehicle plate number that I purchased on JPJ eBid. (I dislike my current vehicle plate number)
3. The new vehicle number I have purchased on JPJ eBid is under my name, not my mom's name.
4. My car's loan installment has been fully settled years ago.

My Question:
1. May I know what's the estimated cost range for the entire vehicle number changing process (as per situation described above)?
2. If possible, can list out all possible items that I need to go through (like apply new car insurance, license, road tax etc.)

I might afraid if I'll miss out or runner miss it or overcharge me. Thank you.
