When you say this, I assume you're just eyeballing and estimating the food you reduced. you never mentioned what you usually eat before the supposed "reduced portion" and the now reduced portion, and what are the things that you reduced.

there's no way energy can appear out of thin air. so yea you're still overeating.

You're gonna need to learn more about food. If 1 cup of rice is 210 cals. Reducing 30% only reduces about 60 cals. You eat 1 additional egg= 80 cals. So you've ended up technically ingesting more calories there.

Either you continue this trial and error run until you get it right or start seriously track your calories.
