Thinking of getting Camry 07-2011 model or accord 8th gen (08-2012)
Want a quite big car, for long distance travelling,
Which one is better choice
Reliability/ fuel consumption/ parts repair cost
Both cars around same price with accord slightly cheaper in market

Maybe you can consider proton perdana current gen too. I think it is based on accord 8th gen.

Buy 2nd hand current gen perdana 2.4. Price also very good nowadays

can consider hyundai sonata / elantra. reliable, parts and repair cost similar with toyota and honda. just need to go to the correct workshop to avoid scams

driving an 8th gen accord 2.4 for 6 years now,still being fully service by honda,absolutely satisfy with the ownership,didn't gave me any problem at all
compare to camry,accord is more exciting to drive,body control is exceptional,handling is quite sharp by D segment standards, but there's a few thing
1) suspension set up is quite hard,i reduce my tire pressure to 2.1 bar(factory spec 2.2 bar) and it helps a lot
2) you'll need to rev the nuts outta this engine to get real power,the vtec kick in at 4200 rpm and thats where the power came in a big way,luckily it comes with paddle shifter which i uses a lot
3) fuel economy is ok for long distance,average 11.5-12.5km/l,city driving is another story..i have other car for that
4) parts are abundant and cheap,just search lazada and mudah for reference,even taobao had lotsa parts for this car but you won't need it much,other than regular services,in this 6 years i only need to change 2 rear wheel bearing which cost me 200 bucks each and that's all

I looked at these cars also, since its not so common like camry & accord, its quite hard to find a good car

accords has more features than camry, but i camry sells for more higher price, was wondering is camry actually that good or just because its TOYOTA

generally speaking, parts price will be cheaper for Toyota. and reliability. ever heard about 'Honda tak guna'? that model was based on gen 8.

fuel consumption is actually the best among D segments back in it's days when tested by paultan, the article still on paultan website, it's the best when compare against Camry and teana.
equipment wise 8th accord is quite Spartan even in it's days, didn't even had fc monitoring, Camry had more equipment but mechanically(which is more important to me), it's the last D segments model to have front double wishbones suspension which explains it's exceptional body control and precise steering feedback, everyone's else already using simple McPherson struts

Camry 2011 owner here. 2.4v model. Mileage hitting 200k. So far no problem with the car. Suspension on the soft side. Perfect for cruising highway whole day. Fc depends on drive. Highway getting 12-13km/l. City 9-10km/l. Mine is facelifted with keyless and vsc. Only needes periodic fluid maintenance on the car. Major service on 150k km needed mounting replacemenr and absorber replacement, Spare parts plenty due to sharing with harrier estima alphard estima. If you worry about fc on d segment car, my guess is you still can't afford one.

Test drove both car yesterday, I think I like the Camry better, feel it suits my driving style better, I've another car for city driving, planning to get Camry only for long distance and if I'm bringing my family
Now it's time to hunt for good car, since all dealers temper the mileage, I think I've to prepare to change suspension n mountings once I buy the car, anything else I should look when looking for 2nd hand car?

Try buy one with valid service record or one with still servicing at sc. You can contact sc and check the potential car u gonna buy record history to prevent those mileage temper

Which means, buying used car from them gives you the privilege on getting warranty from Toyota and they won't tamper with the mileage.
Do note that they usually price their used Toyota higher than tom dick and harry used car dealers.
Well, you wouldn't mind paying a higher premium for a peace of mind warranty directly from Toyota right?

All from Honda. Even the leather seat are from same supplier that sold to honda 8th gen last time.

Proton just change bumper, new tire brand and.china made infotainment unit

all coming from honda's vendor, if not directly from honda. the exterior yes sourced locally.

lol...as long as it's proton people make many assumptions, be it right or wrong
