QUOTE(etsuko @ Jun 12 2007, 07:38 PM) mySQL is a database to store data. in layman, a huge shelf to store books with lots of information of a particular title. if you lose the book, all your information is lost. if your shelf breaks, you could doom to kingdom come. hosting your own blog is just a step forward to experiment more with the blog. try other development stuff like different plugins provided by Wordpress. themes you think could work with it. I find Blogger's templates now more difficult to customize because of their variable system. It's downright confusing. More than PHP or Perl in MovableType. LOL! Why do you think you need to host your own blog? just lately i came up with a domain name which i like then i think of getting myself a web host plan to host my own blog. at least i can earn some side income by inserting some ads. i am sooo desperate to make moolah. money is important haha. but my lack of knowledge in this field is a real stumbling block. that is why i seek remedies here. generally, is it any plans out there provided by web hosting company will fit for blogging?

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 13 2007, 12:22 AM) most companies provide more than enough resource for you to host a blog. you just have to make sure they support PHP and MySQL. you might run into some "problems" when it comes to installation if you don't understand how those server thingy works. EDITED : oh btw some host come with scripts that allow you to install blog engines within a few clicks. could u recommend me any one of them? i dont understand how it works, but i will explore first. if i am clueless i will seek remedies here hehe.
