Before the invention of tyre shine sprays, there's shoe polish. Needs a bit of buffing though.

I've done it before. It's really nice. If you buff it after coating it will look clean and new, but won't look like your parade boots where it can reflect your beautiful white teeth. Unless you heat up the shoe polish first before applying.

To me it looks better than tyre shine. Tyre shine gives your tyres that glossy wet look.
