im a noob when it comes to cars, anyway, for budget rm300 - rm500 monthly instalment, wat kind of car can get? unsure.gif

right now using a saga 1.5(A) year 199x, and just got a raise, so thinking of buying a car. dont care whether new or second hand, malaysian or non-malaysian car; as long can get 90% loan, 10% downpayment can pay. (heard that cars >10 years old, hard to get loan approval?) biggrin.gif

my requirements are simple:
4 doors (no satria, putra etc)
cheap maintenance (spare part cheap, seldom breakdown)
good FC

and 1 more thing, any recommendation where to buy it? motor trader? 2nd hand car dealers?

looking to get it very soon, and thanks in advance for ur help. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes its hard for a 10 years car to get loan. I think u can get a brand new car with ur salary with 9 years installment. I guess u would choose 9 years as u asking for 90% loan. If u can consider new Savvy or Gen2 or Wira at least. Wira cheap mantainance, seldom break if u care ur car. FC ma ma dei.

Woh man, u asking wat kind of car u can get ar??? So much kind la for second hand.
If u afford for everymonth payment install RM 500
And ur downpayment is paid RM 3000
Interest rate let said 3.9%
Repayment Period 108mth

Mean u can get the car value RM 42970.39, and loan frm bank RM39970.39
You may refer tis link

Frm my personally advice:

Firstly, u should make a decision choose a new car or second hand car.
New car
-costly but save for maintenance
Second hand car
-cheap but may risk on highy cost maintenance, drink petrol n else.

New car for value RM 42970.39, i think u can look for Kancil, Kelisa, Atos or Iswara

If u choose second hand car value depend on their year of life.

I think a 2nd hand kelisa will do the trick, for around 20k u can enjoy a easy to maintain and economical car which suits ur requirement.

But seriously state ur budget on how much u wanna spend for ur car, as well as how long u want to loan it. That will give us a better recommendation to ur needs. smile.gif

U r rite get the car which u need to pay RM300-RM500 is enough u need to save another RM100 to RM 200 for tyre, mantainance, insurance and roadtax.

I mean average FC only for Wira. and FC depends on ur right foot.Dun get a second hand carb wira get at least GLi

as long as not exceeding 500/month instalment fine wif me. loan tenure can range from 7 to 9 years, or even 5 years if cheap but good car. thumbup.gif

RM500 X 12 X 5 (assuming u take 5 years) = RM30K++ (plus interest) which is decent for u to get a 2nd hand kelisa. Forget getting an 2nd hand japanese car as those cars will age 10yrs++ which is hard to obtain its loan, not to mention high interest rate.

Yea.. satisfied.. not bad. If ntg wrong i dun c myself changing any new car anytime soon also since i dun wan to burden myself wit anymore loans.

I bought frm 2nd dealer. Brought to inspect by my own mech. He mmg service my previous cars also. So i trust his judgement.

My advice is NOT to buy another car. Stick to the one you have till you have less commitments. Don't get a 9 year car loan.

for a big sized guy like you, kelisa, kenari is out is the question. waja is quite a good choice considering its a sedan. luggage compartment is aplenty.

Added on June 12, 2007, 11:36 amwe tend to forget about luggage space. but it's a major factor when buying a car. you'll regret it soon enough.

Just be caution when going for a 2nd hand waja. Those earlier batches of waja are the most problematic batches, with water leaking, power window problems and many more. wink.gif

check for engine wear, suspension system wear, and of course damages from accidents. minor bodywork damages are acceptable. damages to the frames and sub-frames you have to be careful of. have your trustworthy mechanics to check them for you.

just a 'bit' off topic here..

I own a kancil and would like to get a new car, so i would like to sell mine off. The issue is, it met with a frontal accident 2 years ago and i replaced the front bumper to a mira L2. Got a new paint job as well. You can actually see the colour difference if you take a good look. And when you open the front bonnet, you can see a the frame a bit 'not' straight (bad repair after accident i guess).

My question is
- Can i actually sell this car or am i stuck with it?
- I want to get a 2nd hand car (or maybe brand new), can i trade this car?

Btw, it's a 2001 model Kancil 850 EZ (manual).
