Just got myself a new electrical dry cabinet to protect my small investment

I did notice once the humidity started to drop to let say 55%, it takes ages to drop another 1% with 75% power. out of curiosity, I went and switch off the power source, I noticed the humidity straight climb 1% within a few minutes.

I know that dry box required to be air tight in order for the small dehumidifier to be useful.

So does this mean that my dry box is faulty cos leaky? Or it is expected behavior once the dehumidifier is off?

your drybox is in good condition. no need to worry.

Ideally, an RH (Relative Humidity) range of 35 to 45% is needed in order for a dry box to provide the best protection for your photography tools.

i did some research and some leak test on the gasket
All appears to be in good condition

After I off the dehumidifier, humidity increased and stabilized even tho outside humidity reach 80 due to some rain

how to test leak on the gasket?

Just a crude one that I found ppl test on the fridge from YouTube. Diff thing but same concept

Use a piece of paper like A4, for me I cut it into smaller sheet for more resolution
Then put the paper almost all in, left a tab sized and close the door.
Slide out the paper, if got resistance then good to go
If very easy out meant leaky
I tested and compared to my fridge magnetic door seal, my fridge one easier to pull out compare to the dehumidifier and that is a new fridge. So I concluded no leak.
Fair enough, I off the dehumidifier for 1 day, the humidity remained constant at 50% even ambient one is 80%
