That should be ok. I have read somewhere that Apple will exchange your phone if the battery health hits <80% within the warranty period. FYI, my ip7 is ngam2 2y.o. and its at 86%. There is still reasonable battery life at least for another year IMO.

pondering between xr and xs max. options between xr 128 @ rm3300 (apple china) and xs max @ rm4950 (apple Malaysia).

Having bought and used both I’d say the XR is the most bang for buck. And the battery life is outstanding too!

does the thick bezel bothers you? contrary, does the xs max size really feels that much bigger in hand?

Coming from previous generation of iPhones, trust me, the XR’s bezels won’t bother you after you’ve had some time to get used to it

And yes, the XS Max really feels bigger in the hand coz it’s like the size of the iPhone 8 Plus but it’s all screen, making it harder to use single-handed. That said the XR is not really comfortable for single-handed usage too.

Like you said, the higher the price of the phone, the more the depreciation, and that’s a factor to consider if you’re thinking of letting it go when the next iPhone is announced, which is merely 6-7 months away.

Seems the retailers in China are already slashing prices coz the phones haven't been selling well. And Tim Cook has said during the last quarter results call that moving forward they may price iPhones in accordance to local currency given how strong the USD is, so yeah, you may be right.
