I used to own a kia rio 1.4sx. Bought brand new in 2013 and sold it off in 2017. People who claim spare part problem is still living in dino era. This car is very well build for rm80k pricing. Don't believe, go and test drive. No other new car at that price range comes close to this car good NVH. Even going at above 160km/h feels planted as compared to city or vios. Please don't compare with myvi as it feels tin kosong and sound insulation is bad.
Only fault i can find in this car is the 4 speed auto gb and the 17inch wheel although i am not complaining coz it does look good. Part of the reason why the fuel economy may not be as good as vios or city. I am clocking about avg 11-12km per litre. |

Now with the updated 6 speed GB and with better HU i think this will be good alternatives for the usual Vios City.
I think TS shud get this instead coz currently too boring with the usual typical car on roads. |

Rio's failure because of those 2 things exactly : if wanna tempt people away from Japanese, don't la give dinosaur 4-speed. And 17" wheels, diu la, daily ride sure gonna be stiffer, heavier more underpowered feel, and bloody expensive to replace tyre. I hate the skinny eco tires on City and Vios. ESP and ABS also become useless with these tires. Now better, 6-speed and 16", but could be better. One of the reason I choose Rio (the older UB) was the good safety features, complete with high performance 17 inch tires. Not to mention the sunroof and better ride. One of the reason why I choose it back then(2015) was because I'm not going to pay 10k more for a similarly equipped city. Yeah, City would be more economical on fuel but only clocked 13K in 3 years. So I paid less for the car, get 3 years free service, paid less for insurance renewal (no RV) etc. I actually think the newer one suck. Yeah, 6 speed is good but I don't think they should take away 17 inch rim, sunroof. If I'm worried about fc, I would buy a City. |

QUOTE(yeezai @ Nov 23 2018, 06:27 PM) If you driven a Toyota, you would love it's durability. It's also damn comfortable going over really bad roads. If you want better stability and ride, then City stiffer suspension would helps. Korean is for those who want to save some bucks. Not to say they cut corners, you do get more for what you paid for except for no RV and bad fc in city. Also you need to find non naza seller to get more discount. |

QUOTE(ketupatlazat @ Nov 23 2018, 03:56 PM) should at least put 1.6L engine, baru laa umph I don't think you will get 15K discount. 7-8k should be possible if you know where to look. Press for free service too. Free service is worth 3k or so.recent addition of 6-speed gb is good but head unit is worse than its lesser bro Picanto, why Kia Malaysia why? Slap it with AA & CP and buyers are more incentivized to consider lorr and 80k too high laa - if Kia gives 15k discount then can seriously consider |

But they're much cheaper to replace, a key deciding factor for the target market. High replacement cost isn't something those with <rm100k budget on car afford. Then the perception it'll mean stiffer ride, heavier too, with puny 1.4 N/A engine, not attractive proposition. A shame, cuz kia/hyundai have better NVH here overall than Japanese. My test drove experience back to back, and extended exposure in Honda civic tebu recently really made me question how much unseen things they skimped, but not Korean cars. It smitten me, i think I'd consider a used korean car next time, bad RV is an even bonus to me, give me more bargaining powet unlike Japanese stripped shitbox. |

Well, seriously i dont mind the 17 inch wheel back then as it was equipped with csc 5 tyres. That tyres is seriously overkill for its performance but i am not complaining as the tyre grip is superb. Yes the sunroof plays a vital part too and it have 6 airbags and euro ncap 5. Doubt city or vios can get euro ncap 5 back then.
I placed safety over rv anytime and thus, my obvious choice back then. |
