Was dope!

Truly wish it was abit longer...wanted more shots of Mufasa in his full glory lol😂😂😂

Just that 1 shot of Simba placing his foot on Mufasa's immense large footprint emphasizes Mufasa's physical stature, prowess & foreshadowing the importance Mufasa has in this film as well as Simba's respect towards his father as leader of the Pride Land, which cannot be describe in just words...

More adults gonna watch this film than childrens lol

I like how the CGI in this as well as Jungle Book felt like love-child of life-like creatures & immensely high-quality animation

Cant wait to watch Godzilla: King of Monsters & Lion King😂😂😂

Also interesting that Disney has THREE live action movie, based on their animation feature in 2019, namely

Dumbo (2019)
Aladdin (2019)
Lion King (2019)

Zero in 2018....

I supposed that need the mulah after all the expensive purchases (Marvel, Lucasarts and now 21st Century Fox)....

Another note is that The Lion King (1994) was their "b sides" (older music lovers will understand what I mean) project. All their major talents were put to work on their "a side" project, namely Pocahontas (1995).

Just watched some parts of animated 1994 version...there's so much emotion & soul behind every scene which I think this live-action adaptation is gonna dilute

It just feels awkward when u watch the animated version & suddenly watch this trailer...like the former blows the latter outta park no contest lol

Im definetly gonna watch this film. Just sayin how animations those days (frickin 24 years ago) could be so poignant, subtle yet powerful to stand test of time😊

😱 It's exactly the way I wanted it... Retaining everything from the animated classic including the comical bits.

The music too 😘 This is all set to make you teary eyed...again.

Dang, both Jeremy & Chris are kinda off with this film

I liked the director, John who also directed 1st Iron Man film...and gotta be forever indebted to dat guy...without dat film...no MCU or Avengers:Endgame haha. And Imma not even MCU fan.

On topic, feeling like gonna give this film a safe pass after the mixed reviews. Maybe wud download after few days

I had to re-read the title on RT when it said The Lion King is certified rotten dry.gif

Given today's tech and expertise, this had to be one the easiest Disney classic films to adapt to a "photorealistic computer-animated" film.

Curious, I decided to read a few reviews on it...

The biggest issue with the film (and this comes as a surprise to me) is the scene-for-scene recreation of the original right down to Simba's sneeze. sweat.gif

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lion_King...-for-shot_claim

The trailer showed this but who knew it would be the entire film...

This was seen as a "lazy" remake instead of injecting new ideas or scenes (Jon Favreau's very own "The Jungle Book" is a great example on how to do it right).

Further reviews state the removal of the Hyena's march and the song that went with it and the more elaborate scenes such as "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" completely ignored.

The CGI received critical acclaim and a big contender for the Oscar in this part, but the characters lack facial animation since Disney opted to go the realistic route.

They turned up the technical aspects to an 11, but left everything else exactly the same.

If you have kids that haven't seen the original animated film, they are going to love this. For most of us, it'll be akin to a video game port from "console" era to "next-gen PC era" instead of a proper remake - - prettier but nothing else to it.

Might skip this I guess... unless I'm forced to tag my niece/nephew to the cinema laugh.gif

Lion King (2019)

Gosh, this is tough for me to write.

I spent lavishly on myself today.

I got myself an Imax 3D ticket to watch this.

Imagely speaking it is spectacular.

Right down to the hair of Simba's chinny chin chin!

Apart from the spectacular imagery, the movie is rather.... Meh!

Seriously, the movie is meh...

When the animation feature was product, the B team was put to work on it?

Why you may ask?

Because A Team was working on their big animation movie Pochahantus....

Lion King shone, because B Team wanted to show the world, what they can do.

This version, from a storyline point of view, had absolutely nothing new to say

Nothing!

So.... Is this an example of remake for the sake of remaking?

Really disappointed by this...

Mufasa scream when he falls off is a bit too cringy for me. It should have been a loud roar. And no the voice of Mufasa didn't do much justice

So far, most of the live-action remake were not better than the cartoon. I think the best live-action remake is still Maleficent as it tells the same story from a different angle.

For me, the best live action remake has to be "Cinderella (2015)" which had a jaw-dropping production design (and Lily James nailed the role), and then a year later Jon Favreau's "The Jungle Book" - - the latter was the reason why I had such high expectations for "The Lion King". "The Jungle Book" had every element that made the original so good and did not go the super realistic animal CGI route.

I find Cinderella remake a bit boring but at least version of Cinderella was not a stupid blond like the cartoon. The problem with some Disney princess was some of them were just plain stupid. I just can't stand Snow White stupidity and luckily there's no remake. I do agree Jungle Book were quite a good adaptation. I don't know why but I thought Nutcracker & the 4 Realms (not a cartoon remake) was not bad too but it flop terribly at box office.
