Dear parents,
Has anyone of you taken the NIPT test for baby's health checker & gender and then it didn't turn out as per results?
Eg, result said boy, but on screen and ultrasound (detailed scanning) said it's a baby girl?
Just curious any cases like this before
I can simply look up online sites and get feedbacks but those sites are all online marketing sites. They'll tell you what you want to hear.
I hope to get personal experience or friends or family who have experience this situation.
Thank u in advance

QUOTE(lowlowc @ Nov 18 2018, 08:27 AM) Turn to the back of the report. There is a list/disclaimer to the accuracy level. If I remember correctly, gender accuracy is 90%. I did not take detailed scan but when I asked my doctor during ultrasound if it's possible to see the 'little thing'. She told me there's no need for that because NIPT is very accurate, so far she does not have patient that turned out NIPT gave the wrong gender. How sure is your doctor/sonographer that your baby is a girl from the scanning? Which week did you took your NIPT? My advice for you would be to hold on to the gender reveal from family (if you haven't do gender reveal). Especially family that have expectations on getting a first boy/girl. We have keep the gender secret from family just in case NIPT is wrong. Every time we were asked, we just said, "Baby too active, difficult to see clearly." Ultrasound is our usual check up where we can see baby on screen yea? Detailed scanning is to check whether baby have enough toes and fingers, cleft lips, whether any defect on baby generally. I think this scan is important too. I took at week 16 when baby is around 10cm height. What's your baby's height haha š so fun to see baby grow

QUOTE(Syd G @ Nov 18 2018, 08:34 AM) NIPT is quite accurate because it reads the gender on chromosomal level rather than the outside appearance. I'd trust NIPT than detailed scan. But then, it's possible (although very very rarely) for a person to be a male on DNA level but a female on appearance due to certain gene defect. Would you rather that person be a boy or a girl? Baby boy would be nice because I haven't seen baby boy grow up. But if God gives me a baby girl, it's fine too... My usual checking can see the tiny kuku bird. Doctor calls it balls. He said can see one ball. One ball is 80% accuracy. If two balls then 90% accuracy. Anyhow, have to wait for the report... Me started off with twins apparently. And then the other one didn't make it during early stage. The other one could be a girl or boy, and then the blood test (NIPT) might capture the DNA of the other one, possible? I'm hoping someone here can shed some lights on NIPT report went wrong

QUOTE(Mrs.A @ Dec 8 2018, 03:06 AM) NIPT is more accurate than ultrasound. But thereās nothing that 100% . Try to find another sonographer to get second opinion. I did NIPT it was boy, 16weeks confirmed by USG it was boy, then every USG confirmed its boy, and yes we had boy. But, Iāve met 2 cases the NIPT were incorrect. 1st case because the motherās testkit blood where accidentally switched, 2nd case the causes were unknown. Thanks for sharing your experience. What's a USG? The two cases was it in Selangor? Interesting!
