Dear parents,

Has anyone of you taken the NIPT test for baby's health checker & gender and then it didn't turn out as per results?

Eg, result said boy, but on screen and ultrasound (detailed scanning) said it's a baby girl?

Just curious any cases like this before

I can simply look up online sites and get feedbacks but those sites are all online marketing sites. They'll tell you what you want to hear.

I hope to get personal experience or friends or family who have experience this situation.

Thank u in advance

Turn to the back of the report. There is a list/disclaimer to the accuracy level. If I remember correctly, gender accuracy is 90%.

I did not take detailed scan but when I asked my doctor during ultrasound if it's possible to see the 'little thing'. She told me there's no need for that because NIPT is very accurate, so far she does not have patient that turned out NIPT gave the wrong gender.

How sure is your doctor/sonographer that your baby is a girl from the scanning? Which week did you took your NIPT?

My advice for you would be to hold on to the gender reveal from family (if you haven't do gender reveal). Especially family that have expectations on getting a first boy/girl. We have keep the gender secret from family just in case NIPT is wrong. Every time we were asked, we just said, "Baby too active, difficult to see clearly."

NIPT is quite accurate because it reads the gender on chromosomal level rather than the outside appearance. I'd trust NIPT than detailed scan.

But then, it's possible (although very very rarely) for a person to be a male on DNA level but a female on appearance due to certain gene defect. Would you rather that person be a boy or a girl? biggrin.gif

Ultrasound is our usual check up where we can see baby on screen yea?

Detailed scanning is to check whether baby have enough toes and fingers, cleft lips, whether any defect on baby generally. I think this scan is important too.

I took at week 16 when baby is around 10cm height. What's your baby's height haha 😁 so fun to see baby grow

Baby boy would be nice because I haven't seen baby boy grow up. But if God gives me a baby girl, it's fine too...

My usual checking can see the tiny kuku bird. Doctor calls it balls. He said can see one ball. One ball is 80% accuracy. If two balls then 90% accuracy. Anyhow, have to wait for the report...

Me started off with twins apparently. And then the other one didn't make it during early stage. The other one could be a girl or boy, and then the blood test (NIPT) might capture the DNA of the other one, possible?

I'm hoping someone here can shed some lights on NIPT report went wrong

That's possible too. I suggest just relax and let the pregnancy continue.

I have both - 2 boys and a girl. They're all different. Not really a gender thing but a personality thing biggrin.gif .

Yup, detailed scan is for bones and organs checking but I didn't take that. But friend told me can see the genitals from normal ultrasound too. We basically see very little thing cause baby moves like flash. Don't know why he gets so excited every time we have doctor appt.

I heard from a gynae that panaroma nipt can check the vanishing twin from the results and also panaroma separates maternal dna and fetal dna so have more accurate results but no nipt in the market is 100% accurate. I have heard some turn out high risk n turn out healthy baby in the end. So it’s up to you to do it or not.

If can see the ball, I think it's accurate already.

I just had another scan recently at Putrajaya and doctor confirmed it's boy. I can't really differentiate but doctor told me there's ball. biggrin.gif

All turn out low risk .Phew but i did it in india coz i was there for a holiday so gender is not reveal there but i dont mind waiting till week 20 anomaly scan to know the gender if i can save some money ..

Anyway just wanna check how much is panaroma NIPT in KL ?

NIPT is more accurate than ultrasound. But there’s nothing that 100% smile.gif . Try to find another sonographer to get second opinion. I did NIPT it was boy, 16weeks confirmed by USG it was boy, then every USG confirmed its boy, and yes we had boy. But, I’ve met 2 cases the NIPT were incorrect. 1st case because the mother’s testkit blood where accidentally switched, 2nd case the causes were unknown.

Thanks for sharing your experience. What's a USG?

So the test is accurate

It was just human error

Most likely it’s accurate, but there’s nothing 100% biggrin.gif . My advice just go get another sonographer.. or try Dr. Michael Samy @gleneagles. He’s pretty sharp. He got my son’s dick at 10weeks and confidently said it was a boy biggrin.gif loooong before NIPT. I have so many OBGYN during my pregnancy (most of them either my colleagues or my senior) and just go to whoever I’m in mood with at that time (I gotta picky baby) smile.gif. I can say that usually senior Male OB are pretty sharp compared to younger sonographer. I ever scolded one sonographer because when I went for normal monthly check up she said it was a girl, how come more than 5 seniors always said it’s a boy, NIPT said it’s boy, and one random sonographer said it was a girl when I can clearly see his balls and dick biggrin.gif . I told her to go back study again... *evilMom biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Anomaly detailed scan try Dr. Ravi Chandran biggrin.gif. I’m a doctor, I can’t give feedback regarding other fellow. I will say all of them are good, just choose which one compatible with you. Choose the one that can make you feel comfortable, feel safe, understanding, and willing to listen to all of your thoughts. That’s really important for me. Because it’s a big journey for you and your baby. I visited dozen of OBGYN before I found ā€œthe chosenā€ one biggrin.gif. You need to meet them in person, no need to wait for check up, if the ā€œclickā€ is there.. oh well you’ll get the time of your life smile.gif.
