Hi there, any one managed to set up the parental controls in the Maxis Fiber AP router Archer C5v? There are zero documentation provided and I can't get the time based activation to work. Seems like it is either always on or always off. I would like to set it such that certains device will only have internet access at specific time.

Get a better router. Maxis locked out most of the settings. Can't even change the DNS.

QUOTE(clieman @ Nov 5 2018, 12:12 AM) Any suggestions? I need to use the VOIP phone and it is only available on the C5v. It is quite complicated to decrypt. Ive seen some people here succesfully connected their original maxis router to their own custom router to use VOIP. They connect the WAN of maxis router to Lan port with vlan tagging of their own router. The models of router that work with this kind of setup are either Asus routers with original firmwares or tplink/other brands' router with custom firmwares like ddwrt. Alternatively, u may opt for switch. Refer blacktubi's guide on the setup for his mesh network at his website since mesh routers dont support vlan tagging, there4 switch required. U retrofit the vlan numbers accordingly, it might work. clarify with blacktubi and SilentVampireThis post has been edited by imalmighty: Nov 5 2018, 11:58 AM

Well, I am now using a two routers method. Disabled the WiFi on Maxis router, then connect another TPLink to the AP, configured the new AP using static IP through the WAN port, then do all the policy through the new AP. One extra hop to the internet but it the only solution for me now The double AP orgy. Add the TM box I got 3 network devices serving my internet. The new AP is on another subnet with its own DHCP setting and PPoE is done by the Maxis router.

If you still want to use the VoIP, there are very limited options unless you can bridge the Maxis router and us exit for VoIP only, which could be complicated as well, and require a switch that can support VLAN tagging, or a router that does. See here for a quick example of how this could be done: https://h.auyong.me/networking/2016/12/05/m...ftth-setup.htmlRefer to this thread for more: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2384890/+1200#bottomQUOTE(imalmighty @ Nov 5 2018, 01:35 AM) It is quite complicated to decrypt. to login administrator setting page, ID: administrator Password: router serial number
Today Maxis expert only come for installation, I would like to use Maxis TPlink C5v to be use as second unit/access point, but after searching forum, seem like Maxis firmware didn't include access point feature.

I just got my Fiber connection last month and I'm not satisfied with the Archer Router. I want to go back to my old D-Link router where all my settings are. Does anyone know how to set the Huawei Fiber terminal to accept other routers? I tried connecting my D-Link direct to the Fiber point but i get nothing. No internet. I prefer to put the Maxis router in the closet and save a plug point and use my D-Link router directly.

VLAN is 621 for Maxis Internet.

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Mar 11 2019, 07:18 PM) Ah, I suggest you get a new router. That DIR-655 is very old, and the Archer router is much better. I`m not satisfied with the Archer router. I keep getting stutter in Youtube and FB videos whenever I am in wifi, in any band, but I never get that when I use the D-Link wifi. Videos keep buffering and jumping from 720p to 144p and then back up to 720p in youtube. In FB some videos won`t even load and play in my android phone. This never happens when I am on the wifi from the D-Link. Even though its currently going thru the Archer ethernet port. But If I can bypass that and go straight from the Fibre to the D-Link that would be great. Do you know how to access the Huawei ONT? I tried 192.168.100.1 and 192.168.1.1 as in the small manual but they both end up in the Archer router. Maybe the setting are in the ONT. I think the model is HG8010 series.

Sorry if this goes out of topic.
Based on the discussions in this thread, am I correct to say that if I want to use the VOIP phone with Maxis Fibre, I cannot change to another router?
I am thinking of subscribing to Maxis Fibre, but plan to use my current Asus router.

If you want to use the router make sure that you get the technician to get it to work while he was installing the fibre in your house. I didn't do that during my installation because i was so caught up with having a dual band router. Never usd one before. But now. not so impressed with the wifi performance. Make sure that he does something to the Fiber optic gateway settings so that both the Archer and your router can connect to the internet thru it at the same time. That was my mistake.

Won't work. It will use 58.71.132.10 and 58.71.136.10 even you have it set to your own preferred dns. This post has been edited by therain01: Mar 26 2020, 08:24 PM
