Guys,

still no news or notification about my unifi when will get turbo to 300mbps.
Now I really tempted to go TM point to change the plan to 100mbps and pay RM129 monthly instead of current RM170.

any other point of view? my existing unifi contract only expire on Mar-19

If the existing hardware works they ain't going to change anything. If you want a new router, better to get your own since it's not worth getting tied down with a 2 year contract for a lousy router.

my understanding is once u requrest to change package... they tie u down 2y? is it not?

I am aware their router is lousy, my main concern is the BTU unit... i am since using hte Huawei H850 from the early day. This is the one I hope to change to the latest.

Just got my unifi turbo 500mbps, Taman Desa area. However like what others have said, my black Huawei HG850a BTU seems to be the bottleneck as it's only capable of FE - 100mbps.
Called TM and they said that they'll replace the BTU for free, something about lifetime warranty or what. Will update once I get my new BTU. 😁

WoW! Great News. I also in the same boat.. still using Huawei HG850a... hesitate whether to change to the new 100mbps package, although turbo-ed suppose to be arrive in Dec; but think the BTU cannot support it.

Time to contact TM to get a new BTU, and get your own router if you can.

Bro, can be more psecific on which model to get? I know the first post got a list of model suggested.. but cant decided.

Would appreciate anyone with real experience on the router to share their thought. I think all the routers listed are good for 100mbps to 300mbps; since I already requested to change to 100 mbps plan; so dont need those super high end router. Having said that, if paying extra 2-300 can get a faster one, i also ok.

budget RM500, can max to RM800. priority of connect stability for mobile device at home.

thanks.

Nope. They won’t. You will have to sign a further two years contract. As I say, better to get your own.
I like suggest TP-Link C2300. It is a good router and definitely worth the money. However, if you want to save money, you can try the Archer C7 v5 or C9 v5, or even the Tenda AC18. Up to you.

Many thanks.

impressed with TM service.

Got turbo-ed to 300mbps on 24-Nov (sat), straight away I log on to live chat to complaint about my old BTU (Huawei HG850a) not supporting the new speed. The CS confirmed the BTU is not on the supported device list, file a case

TM Technician came knocked on my door next day on a Sunday 8:20am!!! Replace the BTU as well as a new DIR-842 router.

Now I am 300mbps happy.

Can you check and see which revision of DIR-842 that they gave? Thanks
What device are you using to test? Low end mobile device doesn't have multiple antennas to support that speed.
