....

1) Is it good enough to subscribe to 30Mbps Unifi RM99 now with 60gb quota? or any plans you guys would recommend?  I heard the quota isnt implemented untill next year?....

*
Does the 60GB quota include the IPTV, because that really eats bandwidth?

No. HyppTV non-stop consumes 3 Terabytes a month.

Thanks, that makes sense.
You can never rely on TM for common sense

Thanks for the highlight, now I'm much more clearer...

So in order to know whether a LAN cable is SOLID or STRANDED, the only method is to cut the wire inside and see it ourselves? Or there is some code/term printed on the cable itself?

So those cable that we buy at pc shop, mostly are STRANDED?
*
Cable intended for connecting from wall plate to your PC aka patch cable is supposed to be stranded for flexibility. This type is usually bought pre-connectored.
Cable going in ducts and risers aka plenum cable should be solid core for lower loss. This is normally connected on site. This cable is often sold in 305m boxes

My current Maxis is ride on TM infra, so far there is no problem from the beginning.

Thank you.

How much TM copper is used?
My place Maxis have put a fibre multiplexer in each block and just use TM copper for the last ~20m
TM multiplexer is nearly 500m away, so speed is terrible.

And all the copper Unifi users. I don't get 20 Mbps, pay for 30 and don't want to switch to the new 30 Mbps contract with a pathetic 60G cap

been reading this.

do u have evidence on it.. and what caps for what speeds?

i for one cannot be sure as i get mixed results.

I have no idea how much international bandwidth TM have, but I am confident that it won't be enough for more than a few MB/s sustained per active user.
Traffic shapers favour small http requests to give a responsive feel and clobber bulk file transfers.
International bandwidth is very expensive, so don't expect miracles for overseas sites

By the way, yes I do have huge bandwidth usage - Google drive backup daily around ~50GB, VM cloud backups, Github for applications I develop, my Visio drawings, my network project documentations etc.

I hope that is a business Unifi line. Not exactly "fair use" of a domestic package

On wired i cant get it above 100mpbs, my ethernet cable not sure if its normal cat 5 or 5e but cable mine is a yellow color ethernet cable, which cable limits it 100mbps only?
*
Take a look at the wire colours in the cable connectors.
Calling the four colours A,B,C and D, they should be:
A+
A-
B+
C+
C-
B-
D+
D-

but I have a cable supplied with a TM router:
A+
A-
B+
B-
C+
C-
D+
D-

Get the pairing wrong in Ethernet and you will pass a continuity test with a Jalan Pasar cable tester, but you won't get 1Gbps

Some cables only have two pairs, no good either.

Close but no cigar. Correction in bold.
This one, with correction. Better illustrated with biloxee’s diagram. You don’t have to follow the colors if you’re doing your own cable. Just have to be consistent. Good for confusing the next guy who looks at the cable.
...
*
A detail, modern Ethernet devices don't care about the pair polarity. What does matter is getting the pair assignments to pins correct and the number of times I have seen the centre pairs shuffled is ridiculous.

As you already know, 100Mbps for RM129 is all TM has for now. I'm paying RM159 for 800Mbps.

I think eventually they'll have plans for:
100Mbps RM99
500Mbps RM139
1000Mbps RM199

Hi-rise dwellers? I get 20 Mbps on a good day due to the VDSL and I would burn through 60GB in two weeks, so not interested in a capped service.

In my condo complex Maxis took over the cable trays used by the defunct intercom system. TM have their own dedicated trays. They share the MDF rooms
