just checked with tm and apparently i don't need to do anything for the speed upgrade. it's already upgraded and my modem and btu still supporting the speed so no need to change. right now getting 300+ Mbps download and 100+ Mbps upload. still not getting full speed 500Mbps. maybe need to change my cable cause still using cat 5. but then again, what to do with 500Mbps speed?

QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Dec 10 2018, 04:09 PM) u are not using cat 5 if you are having 300 mbps download, probably is car 5e and dont bother changing to cat 6, cat 5e is perfectly fine to hit 1gbps. i am using cat 6 and have no different between 5e and cat 6. are you using wifi or wired connection. you should get full 500 mbps on wire oh really...when i bought the cable few years ago, stated there "cat 5" cable. am using cable for my pc the whole time. maybe because of my mobo lan port? i'm still using old c2d pc lol but the lan port should be a gigabit lan port.

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 10 2018, 06:40 PM) Honestly, I would get Cat 6 instead of Cat 5e, as the price difference is negligible, and there are lots of inferior Cat 5e out there compared to Cat 6. Cat 6 is also better as it have additional shielding and supports 10Gbps as a form of futureproofness. TP-Link C9 v5 is the latest version, and is better than Tenda AC18, but not by much. I would recommend it if you have the budget for it. Get Cat 6 or Cat 7 from Ugreen. You won't regret it and it will definitely make a difference. You can see it for yourself. actually how much difference can it make by changing from cat 5 to cat 6? right now using cat 5 and getting 300+ Mbps speed from original 500Mbps (but someone here says that my cable actually cat 5e since can get around 300Mbps). or could it be the cable from btu to modem that refrain me from getting full speed?

QUOTE(azharvedder @ Dec 11 2018, 01:03 PM) Cat5 speed only up to 100Mbps, if you got more most prob its Cat5e. Cat6 supports up to 10Gbps.. so if you have a 500Mbps package, changing the cable does make a different, but your PC/notebook network port must also support Gigabit ethernet.. ic...as far as i know my ethernet port should be a gigabit. maybe will try to change my cable. QUOTE(biloxee @ Dec 11 2018, 01:21 PM) If it's labeled CAT5 on the sheath, then it is a CAT5. Good quality CAT5 cables can exceed 100Mbps. See...Get/borrow a pair of CAT6 cables (BTU-to-Router and Router-to-PC) and see if you can hit 500Mbps... just checked my cable and yes it's a 5e. maybe not a good one. maybe that's why can't get full speed. will change both cable from btu to router and router to pc later to cat 6 cable and see if there's any difference. thanks.

QUOTE(henry514 @ Dec 11 2018, 12:33 PM) My unifi turbo package is 500mbps. After upgrade, my speed can reach till 500mbps++ for all time. But since yesterday until today morning. When I speed test, the speed only maintain at 93-95mbps. May I know got anyone here facing the same issue too? Thanks you're using ookla? try using different server or use tm speed test http://speedtest.tm.com.my/sometimes the speed varies using different server. QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Dec 11 2018, 01:31 PM) Get proper Cat 6 cable and see if it makes a difference. If it does, there you go. yup will do that later. thanks.

QUOTE(lamode @ Dec 11 2018, 04:51 PM) after 2.5 hours, attended by a newbie but polite CS. Asked CS for RM99 50mbps plan, she told me don't have such plan, I requested her to check with her colleague, then she came back to me with a form, and told me she needs to submit to HQ for approval as this is not a standard plan, estimated turn around time 5 days, she will call me back once heard back. PS I am still in contract, only ending mid JAN 2019. will update here again. this plan is the one for internet only right? no 600 min free call and basic hypptv channel?

It is full of interference and very congested most of the time. ahhh thanks. will read it later.
